My brother is coming to visit us from the U.S. While he is here for about 2.5 months we plan to go to Laos for a week or so.

I was thinking he should get a Non-O, good for 90 days before coming, or would it be better for him to get a 60 day tourist visa and then extend for another 30 when he is here?

I know I need to get a re-entry for my Non-O retirement extension before going to Laos.

Does he need to get a re-entry for a 90 day Non-O if that is what he gets? How about a re-entry for a 60 day Tourist Visa?

Also, anyone know the requirements for entering Laos for US citizens?

Thanks

How is he going to obtain a non immigrant visa? Believe he should try to obtain a two entry tourist visa (at least one will be free) and use the second entry for return from Laos - plan so less then 60 days reaming and no extension would be required.

If he had a non immigrant visa he would need a re-entry permit to leave/return and keep the permitted to stay time.

He can get a non immigrant from a Thai consulate in the US before coming. How long is the two entry tourist visa good for and can you get an extension that will total a 90 day stay?

Each entry is up to 60 days and either or both could be extended 30 days. The visa would be valid at least 90 days from issue and perhaps six months.
