The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to inform visitors who are planning to visit the country that there will be various exciting activities lined-up for the final two months of the year and also for next year. Among the activities mentioned are the 2004 Bangkok International Film Festival, PATA Travel Mart 2004, Phuket International Marine Expo 2003 (PIMEX), the 17th King's Cup Regatta and the popular Bangkok Trade Fairs.

The 2004 Bangkok International Film Festival is to be held between January 22 and February 2, 2004. Organised by the Thai Film Federation, the award ceremony will feature 150 films competing in nine categories, culminating in the presentation of the Golden Kinnaree Awards.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the PATA Travel Mart which is scheduled to be held in Bangkok September 22-24, 2004 at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre. The convening of PATA's Board of Directors will coincide with the event. This marks PATA's decision to return to the system of rotating the event around several cities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Welcoming the decision, TAT Deputy Governor for International Markets Mrs Phomsiri Manoham said: "Thailand is very honoured to have been chosen as the venue for the first mart under the rotation system. We will work closely with PATA to ensure that it attracts a high attendance and is a success.

Thailand will also host its first international "Boat Show" when the Phuket International Marine Expo is expected to be held December 7-10, 2003. The event is scheduled to take place at the Boat Lagoon Marina and Royal Phuket Marina. Regarded as a true "international boat show on water", PIMEX 2003 is expected to meet the demands of the Asia Pacific marine industry.

The 17th King's Cup Regatta will be taking place at Kata Beach Resort, Phuket, Thailand between November 29 and December 6, 2003. Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the ever-popular Phuket King's Cup Regatta has been reinstated. Asia's biggest and most popular regatta is held annually during the first week of December.

Various other upcoming Bangkok trade fairs include Thailand Best Buys 2003, Gift Festival 2003, Bangkok International Fashion Fair 2004 (BIFF 2004), Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair 2004 (GEMS) and Thailand International Furniture Fair 2004 (TFF 2004).
