Jakrapob Penkair Interview

the guy is slime. The Goebbels comparison is spot on.

Yes, thanks for making that thoughtful and well argued point. For those who actually have read deeply about Nazi Germany the post immediately above from Animatic is actually spot on for the style of Goebbels, unnervingly so actually. The vicious homophobia is quite typical.

Not at all homophobic. So don't bother trying that line.

I have friends of all persuasions EXCEPT those who are abusive to

others in life and their sex lives. His general rep also includes not so

nice references to his abusive preferences with much younger men.

Is it just my view on this forum or is Jayboy confusing post authors here?

I think ole' Jayboy was having a shot at me. I think he doesn't like me.

One of the things I've found when I dip my toe into political discussions is that I'll inevitably find Jayboy right behind me (no pun intended, really, truely) showing off how big his brain is and how intellectually shallow I am.

I think he assumes that just because he swallowed an entire edition of the encyclopaedia Britannica when he was a kid he somehow thinks he has the right to dump on us from his golden ivory towers of intellectual purity. As if we have no right to comment unless we meet his high standards.

He’d much prefer if we were the pontificating type over at his home at the NewMandella, that repository of pseudo-intellectual redshirt–ism.

This man could well be in a position of some authority following the next election.

In red dreams maybe.

Meanwhile...Jakropob Penkair also says the former prime minister and billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra is considering ending his involvement with the movement.

They lie every time they open their mouths.

Jakrapod Penkair is a wealthy individual, and hardly a socialist in his personal actions,

I actually met the fellow Penkair on one occasion and he was probably the most odious person I have ever met, the room just wasn't big enough for Penkair and his ego.

He is a carbon copy of Goebbels with regards to his pomposity and beliefs a typical short person with a big chip on his shoulders and an overblown ego.

I wonder how JJ, as he is known to his many detractors,( เจ๊ (Jae) is Chinese for older sister)is enjoying his stay in Cambodia. His preferences are certainly at odds with the hard reds of Chiang Mai who would run him out of town.

The interview doesn't give much away but I can't recall seeing a live picture, ie phone-in, of Thaksin for a long time. Perhaps he's pondering giving up as JJ says, because of cancer.

As with most Red Shirt gatherings, Thaksin phone-ins aren't usually too far off. This occurred despite Jakrapob's assertion that Thaksin is considering to stop playing any role in their, uhmmm, "organization."

Unfortunately it seems their latest rally is once again being inappropriately held at a Buddhist Temple. :ermm:

Two of the notable Reds out on bail attended.

Red-shirt Concert in Full Swing

TAN Network

UPDATE : 2 August 2010

A red-shirt concert and rally stage in Samut Sakhon province was lively last night with members of the anti-government group focusing on a phoned-in speech from former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Red-shirt supporters and members of the Pheu Thai Party gathered at Om Noi Temple in Samut Sakhon province last night to take part in the group's “From Friend to Friend, No One Left Behind” concert.

Notable attendants of the concert included Pheu Thai MP and red-shirt core-leader Jatuporn Prompan, Karun Hosakul, Worachai Hema and Prasaeng Mongkolsiri. The key figures took turn speaking after musical performances, alongside a show of images of the government's crackdown on protesters.

At approximately 9.30 P.M., deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra telephoned to the gathering. Thaksin thanked his supporters and urged them to remain persistent.

The former PM warned that the government has only built an impression of a strong economy, elaborating that wealth has continued to be centered among only a handful of the public. He bid the red-shirt group to continue to fight for democracy.

Yesterday's concert was the first formal event of the red-shirt group following the end of their rally from April to May. The Pheu Thai Party, sharing the red-shirt group's interest, plans to hold activities in Si Sa Ket and Surin today.

"If it means foreign individuals or powers are funding an oprganization that burnt, intimidated, bombed and killed with scant regard for the human rights of ordinary people that would be quite interesting to say the least."

This is Psychological projection -

I guess it is OK and hunky dorry with y'all as long as it is a elite sanctioned, domestic Thailand organization that "burnt, intimidated, bombed and killed with scant regard for the human rights of ordinary people".

if the critic or opponent is foreign

1. First attack the fact that they are not Thai - despite so many of the current Thai elite being born and educated abroad. - despite the fact that the same elite fully and consciously imported western culture - like central banking, floating unbacked fiat currency, western capitalism, imperialism, etc... - they had no problem with 40,000 US troops occupying the country in the 1960s, no problem with scads of tourists flooding in each year, as long as they bring capital - McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Starbucks everywhere, western fashion, english loan words skunking up Pasat Thai...yada yada...Foreign culture is fine as long as the regime benefits. But let one critic pop up and immediately they must castigated for being "foreign". 5555

2. jail without charges, harrass, intimidate or hire someone to send them a message they'll never forget

If you are so sure that everyone agrees with them yellows, why not have an election tomorrow and find out 100% for sure what the majority believes instead of attributing ideas that have no basis in fact?

Good day gentlemen.

The floor is now open for further ad hominem and other logically fallacious attacks.

Your last sentence suggests that proper, logical replies are either unexpected or unwanted.

His stance towards the recent Bangkok is interesting given that a year ago he stated that "the UDD would consider possible armed attacks".

did he? don't forget, its BBC news. can you trust that source?

You should really learn to use Google.

IMHO it doesn't really matter. You can find articles, audio/video clips which argue for one or another opinion. Next that items can and will be interpreted in conflicting ways. Nowadays it's too easy to make a suggestion and seemingly back it up with statements of 'knowledgable' sources. Even when you were there, saw it happen, there will be sources telling you it wasn't so. Welcome to the new age
