Out on the porch in Thailand in front of the pond, fireflies are flitting to and fro, slide guitar and the blues just fits so perfectly.

I'd rather listen to something like this on my porch in Thailand. She changed her name from Rose Buntrern to Saoyao something or other, anyway a hit with this old song, lovely lady:

The hammock is rather prominent on my porch, inducing a more laid back atmosphere.

I wonder when that was recorded? I saw him at Villa Cafe in 2001 and his voice had gone by then, and a few times since. Last saw him not long before he died. At Holland beer once he came on for a Chai man Cing benefit concert and Yodraks widow and family got straight up and walked out. Sayan was a bit of an odd character. He accused his old mate Yodrak of faking his cancer and Seri Rungswan of fiddling Yodraks benefit money. Sadly he went more or less the same way to that big veethi in the sky.

Mid 80s perhaps, in my view his best album พวงมะนาว

From what I heard, he was held in contempt by many in the business, when popular he refused to sing at charity gigs, didn't want to do anything free, but when attempting his come back a few years ago he was open to any offers.

Only rumours, but apparently gambling was his downfall, 2 or 3 days at the table without sleep.

His malicious allegation that Yord Rak was faking cancer only cemented Thais' belief in karma when he developed the same disease.

Still, he was a good singer in his day.

Sayan was not the only one who will not do charity concerts, although they are a minority. Then again sometimes you can't blame them as I know of a few concerts for' flood victims' a few years back when the proceeds went straight into the pockets of the local bully boys. His last appearance was at a charity concert- for himself at Preapradeng Arcade with one fan handing over 100k on stage. As you say good in his day.

My apologies for the slightly off-topic digression, but could any of our friends and colleagues here affirm or refute the claim that Stefan Grepalli was a Latin scholar and graduate from the University of Cambridge to boot?

Nobody in Sid's could give a convincing answer....

I just listened to this another memory lane trip, a really magical song from the 60's from ISB, saw them 3 times

thanks for posting that Digitalbanana brings back memories, what happened to them?

To be honest, never heard of them before hearing them last week first time and liking it! Music to stand the test of time.

Kantrum should really be utilised more in mainstream music, every time it is, even a watered down version it seems to work

Ying Yong is Khon Khamin

Yes that's one of his best for sure. On stage he's the life and soul but off he's a bit of a misery and not so friendly, Monsit Khomsoi is pretty similar. Did Darkie die of booze or did he kill himself? even Khamin tell different tales

Apologies for the previous 2 in 1

Ponsak country style, cliche photography but a great voice. I like Mike Pirompon, his home is actually only 3 kilometres from my wife's house, but vocally I don't think he can hold a candle to Ponsak.

Ah yeah that's very common. Have to disagree on Pornsak, never like him much although Mia Mia Dek is always a good song to hear. Do you mean Mikes house in Udon? both his mum and dad have died now, his mum had dyalisis for years. Great bloke seen him scores of times,he has a restaurant at lad phrao soi 71, unfortunately an incident with one of his wives there means we don't go there any longer! My favourite mike song, never heard him sing it though
