samtam
I am about to switch to Wifi, and because I have a PC (HP Pavillion w5588d), will need to buy a wifi transceiver, or a wifi card for PCI. Does anyone know which is better? Is the only place to get these in Bangkok at Pantip Plaza?
2008bangkok
You need both a wifi card which goes into your computer and you need a wifi router which sends the signal to the card/pc.. you can get either a pci which slots into the pc or a USB one which ever is easiest for you

astral
Since you have a desk top then go for a PCI card inside the box. Make sure it is the latest WiFi standard, N, I think. You will also need a wireless router with the same standard.
TheKingfisher
Before you ask about it not working, make sure that you install the drivers after putting the card in the PC, then It should all go to plan. I would agree that you should get a PCI card, clean easy and out of the way, also you wont loose a USB port.
ballbreaker
OP when you say "I am about to switch to Wifi" what are you trying to do exactly? Are you trying to set up wireless network in your abode or are you just trying to connect your PC to an existing wireless network? astral
If your are buying both the wireless router and the card for the PC, make sure you buy the same brand for both to ensure maximum compatibility. Personally I prefer D-Link.
