Renewal of extension of stay based on marriage coming up. Will be our first time at the new facility.

Wary of any new requirements I may not be aware of.

Has anyone made a recent successful renewal for extension of stay in this category and if so, would you be so kind as to list or direct me to the current requirements?

Greatly appreciated ...

It should be a much more pleasant experience. The facilities are new. The officers have a lot more smiles and the process is much faster. There are branches of most banks at ground floor level as well as eating places and everything is well air-conditioned.

A friend of mine just changed his status from a Non B to a Non O based on marriage, about 3 months ago. If you are an American, all you need is a signed affidavit from the US embassy stating that you have money coming in every month from the states (100,000 baht I believe) and that's it. I don't know what the criteria is for other countries.

The requirement is 40k per month for all countries.

Recently applied (for first time) in Chiang Mai and they did not ask for the Kor Ror 2, nor did it say one was needed on the paperwork they give us in advance.

The house visit was weird though... They wanted to interview a Thai neighbour (any neighbour) to give what they said to me was a 'guarantee'. Now since we have just moved to a new house (with lots of land between houses), we don't really know anybody, so the wife went out and asked for help. Surprisingly, not many takers when she told the locals that they would be interviewed by the Immigration Police and need to bring their ID cards...

Anyhow, a kind lady said yes and then went through the whole interview deferring the questions to my wife, since she did not know us. Apparently us not knowing the neighbours brought into question the validity of my application (and I guess my 13 year marriage and parentage of two nearly teen boys). Hopefully the bottle of wine and the offer of taking the cops golfing will ease the doubt :)

Anyway, just received a further month's 'under consideration' stamp. Will know in 28 days time...

I should have stated that my friend has 100,000 baht per month coming in according to his affidavit. I have read that some people have to put money in an account and wait for it to mature before being granted the visa. Does this apply to retirement, marriage, or both? Can any foreigner simply get an affidavit from their embassy stating that they have "x-amount" coming in every month? if you are American the process is really cut and dry.

I don't believe the British embassy will give you a letter without proof of income (unlike the US embassy where I understand if you say it they accept it).

As to maturity, I needed to prove 400,000 Baht in a Thai account, in my name, for 2 months. From other posts on here I understand that it is three months for renewals.

For marriage requirement is 400k in bank account 2 months and for retirement 800k in bank 2 months for first extension. For marriage 40k income if using that method and for retirement 65k income. For retirement you also have an option to use a combination of bank account and income.

Yes they obtain such a document from most Embassies with differing requirements for issue - some use the under oath and require personal application as US and some can issue without personal application with specified documents serving as evidence. Others may require both personal application and evidence.

Hi Lopburi , I've a question for the retirement option ( the combination method for my mother ) . My mother went for the over 65k the month method the last couple of years ,

because of the extreme currency fluctuations I think she will come well under the monthly income the next extension . Is it a problem when at imm to just go for the combination option , and do you need the money in the bank to top up to 800k for a period of time or

isn't it required at all ?

Much appreciated .

Some immigration offices seem to demand 3 months when you extend based on marriage to a Thai national after the first extension. The rules say only two months is needed.

For combination retirement option the total amount monthly plus in bank must be 800k or more so if 50k x 12 = 600k plus 200k in bank should be accepted. There would not be any requirement for bank account to reach 800k or for the money to be in the account for a fixed period of time.

Thanks for the quick response, no fixed period of time makes it a lot easier and not give

a major problem i guess .

I also wanted to confirm about my recent marriage extention at Chiangmai imm ,

they do not need khor por 2 as everywhere stated , I got one but the lady took it out straight . One family picture ( which they also never asked ) was enough , not the same as I read at other imm offices where they need in front closet etc .

And no home visit and no map was requested , but with some others they do ask , guess it has something to do with first appicants or personal judgement from the imm officer .

Thats all and as always thank you very much . :jap:
