Not sure if anybody else has done this sucessfully......

I am British and want to apply for a Russian Business visa in Thailand as it would be a darn sight more convenient for me. I have sucessfully obtained 3 from the UK but the rules from Thailand are tricky.

The requirements are: a Thai Resident Certificate or a Thai visa that allows the applicat to stay continuously in Thailand for 90 days or more.

I have a Non-Immigrant O visa which I believe only gives me less than 90 days?

I have a Yellow Tabien Bahn, could this count as a proof of residence?

How difficult is it to get a Thai Resident Certificate?

I could go down the marriage visa route but I don't have the funds available in Baht right now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi BrandX

you would be very lucky to get a Russian Visa without the correct documents in Thailand, ie proof of residence/work permit

I can not answer you question about the Yellow Tabien Bahn as I do not have a clue what that is.

I send my passport off to Ross consular services in the UK and they do all the dirty work for me. (google it)

you will need a letter of invitation and the AIDS cert a photo. The company you are going to work for should be able to do all this for you and even pay for the Ross consular services.

It only takes a week to 10 days from sending my passport off by DHL to getting it back.

sorry couldn't be of more help with the Yellow Tabien Bahn thing

I also have a Yellow Tabien Baan and this is exactly what it is for. If they except or not is another story.

No problem at all. I have done it twice in BKK when staying on 30 days on arrival. Processing time depends on how much you pay but if I remember it right you could apply in the morning and get it after lunch if you have all papers as invitation letter and so on.

Hi Maipasathai,

That sounds too easy!

Hi Maipasathai,

So all you had was the yello book, 30 day visa, application form and the LOI?

Is there an agent who can handle this as I don't want to risk getting a rejection and ending up going back to the UK.

I'm now back in Irkutsk, Russia and my next R&R is Oct 15. S7 airlines are doing a 6 hour 620GBP return flight direct to BKK from Irkutsk. Much better than BKK-LHR-MOS-IRK.

No yellow book (Tabien baan). I can't have any as I don't have any proper visa, just the 30 days on arrival. I have also done a NZ work permit and a India buisness visa in BKK without any tabien baan. They had a few days of processing time and so fa3 the Russian was the the simplest with processing the same day.
