Funds In Thai Bank Account For New O-A Visa

Featured Replies

My wife and I are retiring to Thailand from the UK in the next few weeks. We'll open a Thai bank account when we arrive, but I do not know how long the 800k Baht must be in the account before we can apply for a O-A visa. Does anybody know please?

Also, I am in the process of getting police checks done, but these could be about a month out of date by the time we apply. Is this likely to cause a problem?

Thanks.

The O-A visa can only be issued in the UK and the funds can be there also.

I suspect you are planning to obtain extension of stay inside Thailand and that would require funds be in Thai bank account 2 months before application. No police check or medical would be required. If your wife is not Thai she could obtain a dependent extension of stay to match yours after you get your one year extension of stay.
