I am British and am currently on a non immigrant O visa multiple.

Just before my visa runs out I wish to apply for a retirement visa. I am over 50 years of age and have more than the required B800,000 in a Thai bank account.

What is the procedure for obtaining this visa.

Thank you.

It is not a visa, but an extension of stay based on retirement. You need to fill in a form at the immigration office for the area where you will be residing.

Bring your passport, a photo and it is wise to bring proof of your address, like a utility bill or contract.

It seems you will be applying based on money in the bank, for this you need to update your bank book the day you go and also get a letter from the bank , dated the same day or the day before you go to immirgaiton, confirming the money in the bank being there for at least 2 months. (Next extension it should be there for at least 3 months).

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

If you meet the money requirement you can do up to 30 days before the expiration of your current permitted to stay and they like you to do at least a week or two early just in case there is anything missing. The extension of stay will start at the end of your current permitted to stay so nothing is lost is doing a bit early.
