Women-change Of Name-is This A Problem?

Featured Replies

This may seem silly but i wanted to get something clear. I have a passport in my married name( i am a woman by the way) , if for any reason while applying for a visa of any type will i be asked for my birth certificate? Reason i am asking is that i have been married a few times and dont think I would be able to show a clear path from birth to married name as i havent got nor can remember all the decree nisi dates and marriage dates but obviosly at some point this would have been shown to passport office to keep on changing my passport. And agian if I have qualifications in an old name would i have to show name changes so people would know i am the same person??? Oh to be a man and have just the name you were born with! :o

I have never had to use my birth certificate for anything and have had tourist, non immigrant O, support Thai wife and retirement type Thai visas. Suspect the most likely requirement might be something from your own Embassy or other government agencies rather than for a Thai visa.

That said it might be worth the effort to try and track down your history now while you are in the UK than to try to do it from a remote location and maybe as mental as the rest of us. :o
