Featured Replies

So this is not the sister that was touted for running TRTv3?

How many in the clan

No, that was sister Yingluck.... currently a PTP MP candidate in the Jan. 11 by-elections...

No confusing the lovely Yingluck with the evil "Elite" of Thailand.

Those are obviously fake pearls...... NOT!

She got a serious bundle of moola around her neck.

DARN! And I was all ready to give her a pearl necklace! What a babe.

While Yingluck is a bit more appealing than the subject of the OP... Thaksin's other sister,

Yaowaret

PM's sister accused of kickbacks

Opposition MP releases video recording

"Mrs Yaowaret and a politician demanded 300 million baht in 'commission' to secure a 25-year parking service contract for the new Suvarnabhumi airport." "They promised future assistance for the company to win a furniture contract worth more than one billion baht."

and Yingluck does have a real degree, unlike her sister Yaowaret....

Thaksin's sister insists on chairing a university council without a degree

Yaowaret Shinawatra, younger sister of the deposed prime minister, is holding on to her post as Chairman of Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University Council, even though her bachelor's degree from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University has been revoked because of an allegedly forged vocational certificate.

Neither of them can hold a candle in the great looks and great mind departments like the other, other sister, Yaowapa... :)

Just smile and remind yourself - This is Thailand. :)

And what exactly is Thailand? So the PM's grandparents weren't born in this geographical region called Thailand, but mine were. Does that mean I'm more Thai than him?

Thailand is only what immigrants can make it for their future offspring/generations.

Everyone in power here has some traceable foreign roots.

Absolutley! Poor somchai who just can't focus in class or prefers to muck around with his mates rather than study is doomed to be the serf for his yellow skinned masters. Though they also muck around and fail to focus on their education, their families have 'garnered' the resources to pay off the school admin to give their kids a good passing grade!

Having said that, the locals seem to be quite happy with this arrangement. :D
