I have spent hours reading through the topics, and i am surprised to see such a high volume of posters who infiltrate other peoples topics, and use it to post literary assaults on other people's comments. Why do the moderators of this forum allow these people to ride rough-shod all over their website. I have seen the most unhelpful multiple posters that are flagrantly using this website to vent anonymous abuse of others. I am not talking about the occasional poke here and there, i am talking about 'senior members' with 1000+ postings, who are unnecessarily abusing people for no apparent reason, apart from perverse self entertainment. They also constantly abuse Thai people, and their culture, yet they choose to leech a very good living here in Thailand, and then have nothing good to say about the local people who made this country what it is. I know this topic with drag them all out of the woodwork to heckle me down, because that is what it is intended for... to show all the good members who have a decent informative contribution to make to the topics, who these idiots really are. I am a website developer, and i am fast seeing a niche for a rival forum that will control and 'moderate' these fools and their useless off topic and unwanted abusive remarks about others and their own. I expect the 'moderators' to delete this topic. But what the heck.... Gives me even more reason to set up in competition with a forum that is everything what decent member want from TV, just minus all the idiots. I'll agree that there is a lot of Anti Thai sentiment in many of the posts, especially in this section of the forum. One thing about ThaiVisa, its always ' Thai Bad, Farang Good ' no matter who is at fault. For example, the idiots who post that only Farangs that get stopped at police checkpoints whilst the Thais are waved through is ridiculous, but so many Farangs are paranoid here, I can see why they think this. Most of the time I get waved through simply because I am a Farang !!! It's like a Black guy screaming racism if he gets stopped by the police in the UK, yet what about all the white people that are stopped too, are they only getting stopped because they are white ? I log on to another thailand based forum, and that has much more rudeness in it's posts than this one. There will always be the internet hardmen, who have a few beers, and then log on to pick holes and be rude, but my attitude to them is, Don't feed the troll. If people have opinions you don't agree with, engage them in reasoned debate, don't just be offende by what they say. They are speaking from their experience. I suppose it depends on which sections of the forum you view, but I have found the ThaiVisa crowd to be ok, and if I have asked for information, I have received fast, friendly, and correct replies. But you wouldn't be there for long I'm no expert but is it really any different than other internet forums\chat rooms ? Aren't they most all filled with a lot of nonsense ? Personal attacks and disputes of all kinds ? While people might not give the same response in person I doubt people ask the same questions or tell the same stories. How many strangers in a bar have told you that they lost their fortune and wife and all that ? I just cannot for the life of me think why these sort of UNSUBSTANTIATED claims such as the above quoted example points out. You trying to say, people who have been in Thailand a long time have enough experience to be able to make these accusations about people whom they have never met??? I think not. These forums are not correctly moderated, and if you think it is cool and interesting and entertaining to watch someone bullying another and think it is great fun... then all i can say, is that you were clearly bullied at school, and now you are one of the bulling gang. enough said.
