Do you guys that own a new pajero have the same service conditions as me?

In my service book there are 2 schedules, a small added in book for the 5year/150k warranty,

and one which looks like the normal service schedule in the main book.

The small book (added in), the intervals start at 5000k, then 15000k, then 10000k intervals thereafter.....up to 45000k then they drop back down to 5000k intervals up to 100000k when the small book ends.

The normal schedule in the book, 1st one is 1000k, then 10000k intervals up to 40000k..

I took the car in yesterday at 7000k, and all they did was a check, then told me to come back at 10000k for the first oil change ?

One more thing they tried to do was to fit an extra cartridge air filter in the a/c unit behind the glove box at a cost of 500bhat, which to fit would req cutting plastic blanks off the unit to allow fitting of this a/c filter....I DECLINED their offer, until i could check on here first if this has happend to others.....Their reason for fitting this extra filter was to stop rats and animals entering into the cabin area...?

I then stated if it needs fitting it should be done under a recall, and free, it`s not the cost it`s the point that at 1.2mill bhat you need to add this filter?

And this filter would req changing every 10000k...

So, regarding the service intervals and looking at the two books, it appears i need to take the car in every 5000k , a real pain, as one i need to pull the racepro chip, and secondly i want to fit the dump pipe i have but dont want to remove it every few thousand klicks......

Your thoughts please....regards

As you noted, the smaller book is for the Extended 5 year/150,000 KM Warranty.

The deal here is an additional service interval every other 5,000KM at a price of ~200-300 Baht a pop. The conditions are that so long as you don't miss more than 3 of these, you'll be eligible for the extended warranty. If you do miss 3 or more, your warranty reverts to the standard 100,000KM/3 years.

It's a separate book because it's still officially classified as a special "promotion" even though it appears to be rather perpetual in nature ;)

As for the A/C filter, IMHO it's recommended, and 500 Baht including fitting is actually a very fair price (I've been quoted up to 1,600 Baht for these things on previous Toyota's I've owned).

Very few cars come from the factory with these AC filters fitted, although most (all?) new cars have the provision - so you haven't missed out on anything. That said, it's all about keeping dust out of the air you breathe (and out of the AC vents/plumbing) - it's not about rats and small children - they wouldn't make it past the blower motor in one piece :D

Note that you can buy these filters online for DIY install for ~400 Baht or so.

Ok, i undestand what you mean about the extra service interval, (why dont the do anything,,,,,or is it just an inspection?)

It`s a bloody disgrace though that there isn`t an a/c filter as standard....Grrr.. and have you any links for online purchase, i prefer DIY.

Last one, with the service intervals being as they are, have you still got your dump pipe fitted or do you take it off every 5000k...regards

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Triton and I was told by the dealer that the internal a/c filter was only fitted to export models so i decided to fit a filter my self, I had seen the filter that the dealer wanted to fit , and the nearest material I could find at the time was what's used in fish tank filters. below are some shots of the home made filter, I sent to a friend who all so has a Triton, I was very surprised at the amount of crap the filter seems to stop, and its seems to do the job with out affecting the a/c temperature

I have now found a better filter material to use , designed for vehicle a/c units .

hope the above may help

From what I've seen (done two of them now), the additional extended warranty services are nothing more than a quick overall check of things. You shouldn't have to pay much more than 100 Baht to a local mechanic for the things you may need removed and refitted for the services....

As for the AC air filters not coming standard, as they need to be replaced every 10,000KM that would mean an across-the-board service cost increase for every customer, which will peave some, and could also potentially create some unfair "cost of ownership" style comparisons form competitors who don't supply them standard.. So it's a Catch-22. There's always some logic to be found in these things ;) - ever wondered why every single brand's genuine oil filter in TH is priced identically at 220 Baht? hehe :D

Have PM'd you the details for the vendor I buy my filters from..

Anybody else getting squealing brakes? Told mitsu about it at 5k service and they said they'd cleaned the discs(??), but 600km later they're louder than ever. Ideas ??

They do have a gadget that skims the disc in sittue, clever piece of kit.

If still a prob, smear copper grease or anti squeal grease on the rear of the pads and anti squeal shims if fitted.

Lastly can try a different make of pad and be sure to use the shims if supplied.:).

I took my car in yesterday for this 35,000k inspection, which is all it really is, an inspection, which they did happily but the service manager gave me a new brochure on this and i think the rules have been changed and you now can do this in line with every 10,000k service, they wern't really interested in the small yellow book but i filled it in myself and had the service manager sign it anyway just to be sure. By the way this a FREE service, you are only charged if they find something wrong like a blown globe or low level on some type of fluid etc. My charge for the A/C filter was also 500 baht at the first service in Mukdahan and they have not changed it since.

I have a 2009 Pajero Sport and when I after 10,000 Km the rear end started to howl. I took it to the dealer and they discovered that there was no oil and agreed to replace it. Now at 25,000 it is starting to do it again , though it is faint and @ the 90 km hour rage only .The dealer claims that this common with all Pajero's . does anyone else have this problem ?

My 2010, 3.2lt 4x4 had the Differential whine from New. It comes in at 110ks and completely disappears at 125ks. The Mukdahan dealers who are the same company as in Khon Keane also said it was a common fault but agreed to change the Diff whenever it suited me so i also put in a complaint to Mitsu's customer service section in Bangkok. They contacted me by phone and it was agreed that they would first try to re-set up the diff which they did but no change at all in the whine. They then put in a much heavier diff oil to see if that would deaden the whine, but no difference. While this was being done i worked with the mechanics and double checked all the tolerances so i know the job was done. As the whine was still there a new diff was ordered and the complete unit put in a couple of weeks later, The new diff was manufactured in Thailand and actually reduced the whine by about 50% but it's still there so another new diff was ordered from Japan which 2 months later is still to arrive but i was assured that a couple of days ago that it is deffinately coming. My car has now done 35,000ks with no other problems at all.

Sorry guys, I wasnt sure where to post this question and this place seemed the only one that fit.

I got my PJS 2nd hand and I want to install wind deflectors on it. Any suggestions for good quality (and nice looking) ones and where I might be able to find them? If it can be installed for me even better.

I've seen some crap quality ones and some bad install jobs, so don't want the money that I have to go to waste. I would love some input on this.

SECONDLY,

my LCD screen just developed a weird distortion in the corner when DVDs are played, but not when the menu is shown on the corner. My friend who does car AV systems says that it's not the actual screen problem and most likely is a problem somewhere in between the screen and the player, meaning that I should go back to Mitsu to have it looked at. But he says a new screen probably cost about 30,000baht. Anyone have any input (looks pleadingly at MRO).

MRO doesnt seem to be around any more??

I'd take help from anyone right now. On that note, can anyone suggest where in Bangkok is a good place to repair bodywork for my PJS? Had a lovely incident with a reckless motorbiker who dented and scratched my door.

Or should I just go back to the dealer. Debating whether to pay in cash or claim insurance.

Advice?

First off, any problems with the LCD screen, DVD player or wiring inbetween will be covered under the new car warranty - which is still valid unless the vehicle has travelled more than 150,000KM (it can't be 5 years old yet). Check to see whether you received the "Diamond Warranty" booklet, or card with the vehicle..

As for the wind deflectors (weather shields), any of the (many) vendors in Phatumwan (behind MBK) will be able to supply and fit. I've used R-Style a few times and have been happy with the service/product/price.

If it's just a single door, repairs should not cost much more than 3000-4000 Baht. Take it to a bigger Mitsubishi dealership that has their own paintshop, where they have plenty of experience matching the color of your car.

At these prices, whether or not you claim on insurance depends on how long you intend to keep the car - if you're going to keep it 2 years or less, claim it, if longer, consider paying it yourself as you'll eventually pay for it and more in increased premiums.

Note that if you claim on insurance, your insurance company will more than likely provide a short-list of repairers to choose from, and you'll have to use one of these.

I just had a similar incident with a motorbike. Insurance took care of it - they organised it through mitsu dealership, left the car there while overseas during songkran, came back and it was done perfectly. Mitsu guy said that if insurance calls and asks, deny it was a motorbike as that involves a 1k automatic payout fee of some sort.

Thanks for the info! So you call the insurance first? Or did you head to the mitsu dealer straight?

We called them at the scene of the incident, they came straight away and organised it from there.

Ok, mine wasnt so bad. The biker rode away and we drove off too.

I have a similar problem; the screen has slowly developed curvature at the top of the screen. The curvature is growing for each week. Mitsubishi have told me will replace the screen at no cost. However, I pointed this out two months ago and still no new screen...

Check out the picture if this is a similar type of problem you have?

Odd that they don't have it in-stock (it's a normal stock service item), and are making you wait. 2 Months is way too long, my guess is someone's made a mental note and lost it :(

If it were me, I'd be a daily fixture at the dealership until it was replaced, and the other electrical issue you've reported, fixed (which, BTW does sound awfully like a simple earth fault).

On that topic, it would appear you've had GPS installed aftermarket - anything that's been installed aftermarket could be the culprit of either/both issues you're reporting..

Nope, I was stupid enough to buy the Alpine option from Mitsubishi...which by the way is the worst sack of <deleted> manufactured on this side of the universe.

In my case, the electronic 1 year warranty is over. Any idea what Mitsu might charge me if they change my screen?

Im kinda dreading it.

IIRC, the screen is ~27,000 Baht and the DVD Player ~13,000 Baht. There's a few for sale over at the Pajero Sport Society website by owners who've upgraded to something else though..

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I was wondering what was the best value for money set of tyres for my PJS.

My budget is quite small so I was wonder, are the Duelers that come the best options available? Anyone know which ones also reduce rod-noise the best?

B-Quik released some prices and was wondering if they are ok. Any gurus out there?
