if he asks a woman on a date & then doesn't turn up then that makes him accountable.

Maybe he suffered a tragic accident en route.

Maybe a tragic accident that, for one reason or another, he felt unable to explain.

I suggest that you assume he soiled himself en route in the taxi, and feel grateful that he never showed up.

He is maybe having trouble adjusting to the food or the water...

Why do men do that? too cowardly to say i cant make it? its so rude.

Same reason that women do I'm guessing... Anyway sorry you met a cowardly fool Patsy not all men are so, red flags being a salesman and all as honesty is usually not their strong suit. Sorry to say that someone else probably made him a better offer or he sensed your disappointment in his nationality...

Most men are quite perceptive and capable at reading body language and impressions..

Why do women try to hold us accountable?

I'll correct that for you "Why do women hold all men accountable for the actions of a few ill mannered, low life's?"

Just goes to show that just being successful in business is not the measure of a 'winner' in personal relationships even though that's the failed perception so many have, doubt me? Just ask Elin about that one..

You are right WS, its absolutely no different than your generalization that all women hold all men accountable.

Let me amend my post to something a little more accurate:

"why are some men such flaming a**holes that they think this is acceptable behavior?"

Don't worry - I have got over it. Just a bit pissed off.

Rude is the word that comes to mind. If i meet him again I shall give him some stern words.

Ok I agree with that, with one side note; Include some women too..

In my younger days I once asked this little hottie out to a Lobster dinner and she was willing with this comment something about friends right off the bat when I offered to meet her to pick her up at the place of her choice but her response was something along the lines of meeting me at the restaurant as just friends.

Well I have plenty of friends and they all pay for their own dinners when we go out except on those rare and special occasions but we've known each other for some years so buying dinner once in a while is what we do for each other..

I mentioned to her that if it's the case of a friendly dinner then we should go dutch but thinking to myself that if she showed up I'd pay for it anyway as it showed more potential interest then just her wanting to have a free Lobster dinner.

Wellll the ending is all too predictable as I sat and waited for 45 minutes finally resigned to having myself a nice King crab dinner by myself (don't care for Lobster quite as much but I sure do miss fresh King crab) it was excellent too so she missed out in the end and life goes on... I think she was a yank too as we were both in the states at the time...

Yup, we all have sad stories about rude inconsiderate people who stand us up. But as Patsy has noted, she is over it and I would suggest you might give that a try too.

I like to imagine he was attracted by and then possibly intimidated by the sparkly shoe laces

better luck next time patsy : )

I didn't have the sparkly laces on. Perhaps if i had put them on along with my Hello Kitty handbag and t shirt and those lovely socks i found the other day - He may have come to meet me.

I have his name. I know where he goes on a Wednesday night, tonight i did not go to that place. Revving myself up for Guns etc.

Not upset, just thought that a man of, around my age, would have more manners.

Ah, well. We live to learn and never stop learning.

Signed - Sad and lonely from Geneva!!! (JOKE)

Could have been worse, Pats. He could have been Welsh.

You are not sad Patsy, and you have a host of friends here.

The getting-stood-up thing happens a lot with gay men, too- even when it seems to be going well and real previous to that. I think it has something to do with things 'getting too real' emotionally, and men in general are not socialised to deal with that as well as women.

Don't worry - I have got over it. Just a bit pissed off.

Rude he was, but he probably did you a favour. A jerk like that wasn't worth your time if you were to fall for him... and that is easy enough to do with those types. Most are smooth talking bastards.

 Ian, you sound like my dad. He took offense to smooth talking bastards too.

One thing i didn't mention - he is separated with two kids (three and one).

Gets sleazier every minute...

Aha! The old "I'm Separated" line, truth be known his definition of separated is probably that the wife is home looking after the kids while he's out on the prowl. Never mind, I am sure you will find the man of your dreams one day. Good luck and keep testing the waters.whistling.gif

And I'm old enough to be your dad as well.

But, I DO remember the handsome guys who used to prey on the innocent or lonely. I laid a licking on a guy for just that reason. It is one thing to peddle a line to a knowledgeable woman, and something entirely different to seduce the innocent. :realangry: That is why I stick to the professionals. I don't want anyone's feelings being hurt.

Because I remember it means I'm not over it more then 2 wives and over 20 years later? Sorry I don't disassociate myself and go through life in denial that way with my past otherwise you're destined to repeat the mistakes instead of learning from them.. Pathetic comment..Patsy was so over it she started a thread about it <_< and is still mulling over it since my last post..

A free Lobster dinner, l won't stand you up Warps. :D

This was Maine lobster too, but sorry it's too damned expensive here and not even fresh if it could even be found..

Suggest you drop the flaming. Immediately. You certainly do know better and should,at your age, have better manners than this.

Most of this thread of mine has been tongue in cheek humour.

I was a bit upset that the guy didn't get in touch, but am not losing sleep over it. In retrospect, if he had given me his number, I probably wouldn't have called him. He was a bit odd.

Just a bit of a joke thread - don't need deep psychological theories!!! Warp Speed - take care!!

Now with my new trainers and chopped hair I shall meet someone.... Shise i sound like a weirdo...

If I had your looks I'd not need to rely on my sense of humour.

Maybe I should take up voodoo....
