First Time To Thailand

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm currently in The Canary Islands and wish to go to Thailand for a long vacation (six to twelve months).

I was thinking of flying from London to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia, and then catching a plane to Phuket maybe.

Reading up on the Visa situation, I'm not sure what would be the easiest and most cost effective way to go about it.

I have a French passport and have never been to Thailand before. Can anyone please offer me some good advice?

Thank you,

Jeff

Thanks, would it be just as easy to do it in Kuala Lumpur, and when the 60 or 90 days is up is it easy to get another one?

Best thing is to get a tourist visa in the UK. This is good for 60 days + a 30 day extension. These are free at the moment.

Or, if you can, get yourself a multiple entry tourist visa again in the UK.

Thanks, do you know how long and how much that would cost, and also what would I need to get it?

The best option would be a Multi Entry Non Immigrant O Visa from the Consulate in Hull UK.

Providing you have time to apply.

This would give up to 15 months and need a border run every 90 days.

Everthing is on the site . Link given. You can apply by post if you wish.

Apply for reason of visiting friends. You need a give an address. It cannot be difficult to come up with one.

Give them a ring. They are very helpful.

You need to be married to a thai in order to get a Non Immigration O Visa. Forget this. Just get your tourist visa. Easy and perhaps free.

Whatever visa you are getting, make sure it is a multiple entry.
