The new Lotus Evora.

Despite the wider target audience expected for the Evora, Lotus claims the car is considerably faster around Germany’s benchmark Nurburgring circuit than the Elise and more stable than the Exige.

The engine in the Evora is based on Toyota’s global 3.5L V6 but has been extensively modified for application in the Lotus. Changes to the engine management and exhaust systems also allow the V6 to rev more freely and provide rapid throttle response.

The car’s power output is rated at 276hp (206kW) and 252lb-ft (342Nm) of torque. Engineers are still working on the car’s final specifications but early indications suggest a maximum speed of close to 260km/h and a 0-100km/h time of less than five seconds.

Looks like the Elite and Evora are quite different vehicles according to various sites.

"The Lotus Elite hides under its hood a monster 5.0 liter V8 engine developing...wait for it... 620 PS and 720 Nm of torque. The rev limiter of the Lotus Elite is set at 8,500 rpm! The manufacturer says the new Lotus Elite is able to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in between 3.5 to 3.7 seconds and that it has a top speed of 315 km/h.

Although having supercar level of power and performance, the Lotus Elite has a 2+2 seating configuration, so you'll be able to take your friends for the ride of their life. The Lotus Elite is rear wheel drive and weighs 1,650 kg."

I read quickly on Yahoo news the new Lotus has been bought out to compete with the Aston Martin and being produced in the new UK factory.

Both build great cars but I do not see how a Lotus could compete against an Aston Martin.

+1

Lotus will always be the best driver's car money can buy for under 30 grand (that doesn't look like ass that is - sorry Super 7 fans ;) ) . They've got the performance credentials, but no way do they have the luxury or prestige required to compete in the 100+ grand price bracket.
