What'S The Procedue To Cancel Work Permit?

Featured Replies

Hi,

does anyone know what's the procedue to cancel work permit and non b immigration visa?

I'm returning back soon...

because my concern is if the company failed to cancel, I might need to pay 500bahts/day for overstay in thailand even i'm not in thailand!!!!

I'm afraid next time when i visit thailand again i might be stop by custom officer.

how do i ensure this will not happened?

Thanks!

The work permit has nothing to do with overstay unless you were on a one year "Extension of Stay" based on business, and no need to cancel the visa.

You say Immigration visa so suspect you are on a one year extension of stay for work issued by Immigration. In that case work must provide you a letter to cancel your extension of stay and you do that on last day of work. You then immediately leave or apply for a 7 day period to pack out (costing 1,900 baht). You would not be charged overstay if not in Thailand but without visiting immigration with the letter you might be stopped from leaving country.

As for work permit the only time that would be an issue would be if you wanted another and it was found you still have. It would not involve 500 baht a day overstay however

And make sure you keep a photocopy or scanned copy of the work permit book, all pages.

There are some situations where the process of getting a new work permit (if you ever wanted one) is a little easier if the new application can quote details of a previous (and cancelled) work permit.

Ok, here is another question then:

I am leaving the country in a few days, have returned the WP to my employer, they will not cancel until end of this month.

Before end of the month I will leave thailand.

Once cancelled, my extension of stay automatically gets cancelled as well.

But I am already out of the country.

next time when i visit (in thaty case for holiday) i can just go through immigration and get 30 days Visa on Arrival, is that correct ?

The last workday will be the last day you are paid over.

If out of the country, that should be it. Presuming you don't have a valid re-entry permit with your extension of stay, otherwise you would need to cancel your re-entry permit.

I think you won't get a visa on arrival, but a visa exempt entry since you are talking about 30 days. In that case ignore the visa on arrival signs at the airport, they are not for you. Just proceed to the normal immigraiton line.

hmm....

so I should leave the country 1st without cancelling the work permit.

What about my 1year multi-entry visa(non b immigration) which was stamped on my passport? Do I need to inform anyone to cancel this or shall i just leave it alone?

lastly, what about the income tax thing? Do I need to pay any money?

thank you guys for all the reply!

I can find many information here.

Regards,

Terence

Where did you get your current non immigrant visa - was it outside of Thailand? If so then you do not need to cancel your visa.

As regards your Work Permit - better you copy all the pages for future reference, then hand it over to your local Labour Dept for cancellation, as some areas still require this.

Has your employer been paying your Income Tax and National Insurance? If so and you plan to come back to work in Thailand again, it is worth while getting a receipt for tax paid by your employer.

Once your Work Permit is canceled then you have no further liability for Income Tax.

Are you talking about a multiple non-B visa, which would stay valid and no need to cancel or do you mean a multipe re-entry permit. A re-entry permit would need to be canceled.
