Xircal
Adobe has issued an out-of-band patch to address the vulnerabilty in Adobe Reader. Download link: Adobe version 9.4 Don't forget to uncheck the link to McAfee Security scan to avoid installing that as well.
rametindallas
Try foxit as a PDF reader. It loads in 1/10 the time and is free also. You can download it at foxit.com Everyone using Microsoft Windows operating system should get rid of their paid antivirus and install Microsoft Security Essetials. Again, free and it found two trojans on my computer that my subscription antivirus didn't alert to. I got a big perfomance boost. MTH
Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got Adobe set up to automatically search for updates, so I got this one when I turned on my computer today. Something to consider with “trusted” software.
katana
PDF-XChange Viewer's another good replacement for Adobe bloatware. http://download.cnet.com/PDF-XChange-Viewer/3000-10743_4-10598377.html

What I have noticed is gigabytes of bloatware in Adobe Reader and a tiny but 100% effective reader in Foxit.
Supernova
I stopped using Adobe Reader a long time ago. Way too much bloat for a 'reader' application. Foxit FTW! Edited October 6, 2010 by Supernova
