Where to buy good bangkok map ?

Featured Replies

Look in the various bookstores.  Think that there are tourist type maps that cover this area well (used to have one) and if you want in English it may have to be made for tourists.  The big book (Bangkok Guide) has fairly detailed maps extending out beyond the borders of Bangkok but believe is only in Thai (some names are also printed in English) but my copy is 3rd edition from 1997 and 385 pages.

Hi singa-traz,

I have "Bangkok and Greater Bangkok"

a map by NELLES MAPS in ASIA BOOKS. Bht 175

It covers the areas you mention and well beyond

but not in very great detail.

My Recommendations:

#1: Bangkok Department of City Planning allows you to download maps (*.gif files, ~500 kb each) of every district in metro Bangkok.  The maps (in thai, but readable) are very detailed.

See http://203.144.180.217/office/cpd/eng-comp...p-download.html

#2: Agency for Real Estate Affiars (AREA) created a good map book called "Bangkok Map."  It's purpose is to identify most of the buildings in metro Bangkok and their contact numbers (i.e. for expats looking for condos without an agent, I suppose).  I believe it is available in bookstores, or can be purchased at their office for 550 Baht.  See http://www.area.co.th/bar22.htm

Hope this helps.
