News_Editor
Nobel Peace Prize announcement awaited in Oslo 2010-10-08 15:57:35 GMT+7 (ICT) STOCKHOLM (BNO NEWS) -- The Nobel Peace Prize, arguably the world's most honorable prize, is due to be awarded this late Friday morning. The announcement is due to be made by The Norwegian Nobel Committee at The Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, where dozens of journalists are waiting for the announcement by Thorbjørn Jagland, Chair of the Nobel Committee. This year, the Committee had a record number of 337 nominations to choose from. Among them are 38 organizations on a list that is top secret until the announcement is made. Last year, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to U.S. President Barack Obama "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." That announcement led to criticism. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2010-10-
