News_Editor
Yemen police official killed in violent protests 2010-10-14 19:17:02 GMT+7 (ICT) ADEN, YEMEN (BNO NEWS) -- Violent clashes between demonstrators and police in south Yemen during a protest resulted in the death of an official of the local police, authorities. As security efforts began trying to disperse the violent crowds during protests that marked the 47th anniversary of the Yemen's uprising against British colonial rule in Mudiyah, located in Abain province, a gunshot struck Abdullah al-Baham on the head, killing him immediately. It is still unclear if the attack was carried out by a member of al-Qaeda or if a member of a separatist group opened fire as Abain province has been a center point of autonomist and pro-independence movements. In addition, Seiyun's intelligence chief died Thursday after succumbing to his wounds following Wednesday's attack by motorcyclist gunmen in Hadramawt province. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2010-10-
