Anyone Else Find Irony In The Dea Drug Banners Around Town?

Dont think they are asking who is ON driugs, they are asking about dealers, terrorists etc, it's the first time in 8 years i have heard the soi advertising trucks broadcast their message in clear English!

I have not seen any signs yet for terrorists, but that makes it even funnier given the fact the "terrorists" usually wear red shirts and gather in masses with sling shots and sticks. Though, I don't recall Pattaya being a base for terrorism. Perhaps they are expecting some of the new high class tourists from the middle east to be sleeper cells who are going to strike on foreigners?

Regarding who is on or dealing drugs, it's not like the police don't know. Throw a rock in any direction, on almost any soi, and you'll hit a few of both.

Has anybody else found the fact that they have banned drugs throughout most of the civilised world and have spent Trillions on the war on drugs yet they cannot even keep prisons drug free. <deleted>!!!

If you cannot keep drugs for a supposedly secure environment what chance do you have of stopping them on the streets ?

The whole thing is a massive waste of time money and lives.

Oh my, I had no idea the US DEA was involved.

The DEA can't clean up a hill-billy town in rural America, let alone clean up a foreign country.

The comedy is never ending in this place.

I totally agree with your statements above.....the irony of these posters is not lost on me.

Billions of dollars are wasted fighting drugs.

I lead a sheltered life. I have no interest in ruining the body nature gave me with chemicals, there are enough I do not know about injected into all the fruit and and animals we eat.

I do not move in circles inhabited by drug users. I know no drug dealers and have no wish to.

I care not a jot for for any moron or what might happen to them when they wish to snort, eat, inject or smoke any mind bending crap.

Singapore, the least corrupt country in the world has severe draconian laws....BUT they seem to work when it comes to drugs......

'Everyone is on drugs here'. That is one hel_l of a sweeping generalisation. I live in the Pattaya area and neither I or any of my friends are as you stated. Just another 'throw shit at Pattaya thread'.

Thats insulting to suggest me and many of my friends are on drugs, very offensive

There are three ways to look at this. Which ever one you want to embrace, is up to you.

1) Neither one of you could read past 21 small words and get to the line directly under them that says, "Or do they mean FOREIGNERS on drugs?" That would imply that "Everyone on drugs" would mean the locals. Since you probably didn't catch that just now either, it means the local Thais. And if you want to get specific, considering many actually are on drugs here, and there are plenty of police reports to lay claim to this, then I stand by my statement. Perhaps if 21 words is your maximum reading capacity, you should look into taking drugs to improve your concentration.

2) You are void any sense of humor or sarcasm at all and should probably in fact be taking drugs, and/or consuming as much alcohol as possible in an attempt to lighten up a little and not take everything you read so literal. But then again, this may limit your reading abilities to only 21 words.

3) When I said "everyone" I was literally referring to every man, woman, and child in Pattaya. But since the cat is out of the bag, I really just meant you two guys.

No.

"Everyone is on drugs here"

Maybe in your social circle.

You're probably right. No drug problems here. They must have randomly picked Pattaya out of a hat.

Honestly, some of you guys must be a real joy to hang out with. A laugh a minute, I'm sure.

Please let me assure you.

The vast majority of the Locals are NOT on drugs.

Even if talking about the transient workers in the sex trade, perhaps your point of perspective. The majority are NOT on drugs.

The majority would indicate over 50% and you are WAY off.

Narrow it down further to Beach road freelancers and you may be getting closer.

Maybe you should try to spend more of your time elsewhere.

I am assured now, thank you. You are probably the leading authority on this issue, so I'll take notes and pass them along to the DEA who foolishly started an anti-drug campaign in a city where only Beach Road freelancers are on drugs. Think of all the money they could have saved if they consulted with you first. Instead, those dummies are hanging signs all over town where they are going to have zero results!!!

You probably already knew this too, so forgive me for writing it, but did you know 7 out of 10 urine tests here come back positive for drugs? I didn't major in math or anything fancy, but I don't think that is a good ratio.

They round up those beach girls and ladyboys about every other day now. One some nights they do a few raids a night. Not sure why there are still any drugs left in town, but I'm still offered "maadaa-waanaa-coke-ite" every time I do my sunset walk along the water.

In other news, I was actually out and about along the beach this afternoon and for the first time in several years, I did not see child porn for sale on the tables who usually sell it next to the bootlegged Hollywood movies. I imagine they finally felt some of the heat coming from Bangkok on this issue. That's good news for a change.

That's interesting if true, I did not know that.

You are right that is a high number, even accounting for the fact most are probably conducted on freelance prostitutes in 3AM raids on clubs on Walking Street.

I wonder If you could supply your source for this information?

I never said there is no Drug problem here, but was a bit annoyed at your initial statement that everyone was on Drugs.

I don't think that here there is anything like the drug culture and numbers there are in the UK smoking weed for instance or taking Ecstasy.

Unfortunately the drug of choice here seems to be Yabba which I believe is Amphetamine/Speed not nice stuff.

There IS a drug problem in Pattaya, and it IS a big problem. YaBa (Meta Amphetamine) is rife, and the dealers are targeting all types of people, including school kids. They know that the 'Luk Krueng' kids have access to money, so they are prime targets.

If there are people trying to help put a stop to the dealers, then my hat is off to them. They will have one hel_l of a battle though considering the levels of corruption in Thailand.

I just hope that they can succeed.

Lets assume a farang 'shops' his condo' Thai dealer for 'cash' result=DEATH, because the policeman handing out the 1000 baht reward would 'shop' the farang.

Absolute same result as the above if the person who 'shops' is Thai.

End of story. Let them; (the addicts) get on with it, but sentence drug thieves for five years minimum.
