ICT Expo next week

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005, from Aug 3 to 7, will help strengthen Thailand's position as an international venue for IT exhibitions, according to Suwit Khunkitti, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) minister.

Mr Suwit said the event, at Impact Muang Thong Thani, was aimed at encouraging trade among ICT companies, as well as opening up market opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized in particular. IT will showcase a variety of innovative technologies, wireless devices and networks, and third-generation (3G) technology.

Mr Suwit said the ministry would showcase a series of electronic technology development projects, including e-government, e-education, e-commerce and e-learning.

Approximately 300 exhibitors from 15 countries will take part in the Expo, which is expected to attract as many as 300,000 visitors. The event is expected to generate one billion baht in orders and sales.
