T_Dog
Took my weekly ride off-piste and thought I would post a few photos of the way out and on the trail itself. It always amazes me how much you can see in 35 km bike cruise within a half hour of Chiang Mai. There are a myriad of dirt tracks between the road to OpKhan National Park and the Samoung road, and a biking buddy discovered one that has become my weekly favorite. Two hill tribe villages, about 400 meters of climbing total, and lots of quiet. Mountain biking really allows one to escape the noise and pollution of the highways. KMZ file of the general area attached. With a stop to tie up a broken spoke, a bit of photography, short chat with a goat farmer, and bowl of delicious noodles, I was still back home in under three hours with a very slow pace. It is so green in Northern Thailand right now and a great time to ride. OpkhanSamoung.kmz

T_Dog
very interesting, thanx fo the kmz, but only have downhill bike and motorbike at the moment any more gps files in the area? It's a bit of a confusing area with lots of intersections. You could ride it with a downhill bike if you have good gearing as the weight would not be too much of a factor on the small (but frequent) climbs. I wish I knew how to download a route from my Garmin Forerunner GPS but that eludes me so far. I'll try to get some more kmz's next time I ride it. rikki
You can download your last 10 tracks with Garmin Mapsource. I dont remember if there is a map included, very basic if it is. There are sites which explain how to use their free maps with mapsource
