JERUSALEM (BNO NEWS) -- A stone-throwing 12-year-old boy who was seen getting hit by a car near Jerusalem on October 8 has been placed under house arrest, officials said on Sunday.

The incident happened on October 8 in the mostly Arab neighborhood of Silwan, adjacent to the Old City of Jerusalem. In a video released by Israel's Channel 10 on the same day, two boys can be seen running towards a car while throwing stones at it before getting hit by the car.

One of the boys, a 12-year-old, sustained moderate injuries while the other suffered from minor injuries as a result of the incident. They were transported to Moqassed Hospital for treatment.

On Sunday, Jerusalem police ordered the 12-year-old boy to be placed under house arrest for at least two weeks, on condition of 2,000 Israeli shekels ($560) bail. The boy will be allowed to travel to and from school, under supervision of a parent, during the house arrest.

An investigation into the incident is still being carried out by police, who have released the second boy and gave him a warning to not repeat his actions.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Mohammed Sharif of Silwan has been indicted with two counts of endangering human life and attempting to sabotage transportation. Sharif is also accused of throwing stones at the car and will remain in custody until the end of his trial.

Prosecutors say the driver of the car, who was identified as Be’eri, was on his way home with his son. He was questioned by police after the incident and has since been released, although it remains unclear if he will face any charges.
