Russian Real Estate Investor Brutally Murdered In Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Not getting into previous posts or who should or should not have passports of a state, is the below the basic outline of what the original OP is saying:

1. Family is quickly aware of disappearance.

2. Police are quick to act upon this information.

3. Deceased is a Russian national.

4. He lives in Pattaya.

5. Deceased has businesses in real estate or condos.

6. Police quickly come across his 5 bank accounts.

7. Police monitor every ATM in which he can access his bank accounts.

8. Two Russian men go to an ATM and are approached by police.

9. They flee the scene, one apparently going to reach for a gun.

10. He is subsequently shot, in what from the photo's I take is the arm and the theigh.

11. The are paraded around the police station for the media.

12. After 'some time' during 'interrogation' they release details that his lover was the one who did it.

13. They received financial reward, and all access to his banks accounts for assiting in the murder.

14. The accused lead the police to the grave of the deceased.

15. The accused are let off without charges.

16. Police take the lover in for questioning.

17. He also was later released without charges.

Amazing Thailand, another day in Paradise??. Please tell me if I have the information incorrect, but that's the heads and tails I make of it.

Your article was about people having fake passports.

There's no indication that the Russians apprehended today had fake passports.

Even the Russian media refers to them as

Russian businessman dies in Thailand at hands of fellow countrymen

btw, if a person holds a legitimate British passport, he/she is British, irregardless if you think they are undeserving of the title.

You just don't understand.

In recent years Russia was giving away Russian passports to almost any ex-USSR citizen. Even thou many of them can't even speak proper Russian, they could easily come to country and get passport in 6 months. On the other hand it was moral obligatory, as many ex-USSR's had mixed families (me included).

Think of British overseas citizens, same story here, but faster way to citizenship in Russian case.

I don't want to offend anyone or start a row but it seems to me that there a lot of high ranking officers in the police and army. It appears that every other police or army member is a field grade officer. Does anyone have a ratio of enlisted to officer in these services? Just curious.

^ I think this is worthy of inclusion in your list of events

Having collected the necessary information (PIN numbers), they strangled Grishin, and afterwards shot his already dead body several times.

Agreed, was avoiding going in to the prior story and going off OP. But there seems to be an extortionate amount of over looking by the service. Could go so far as in how does a falang have a 9mm handgun down his pants (yes, I know its possible to have one as a falang, also harder to shoot one at BIB and be held not charged)...

Correction: Held not charged.

They are not MAFIA!

They are all good ex air force pilots and running an Air Cargo business.

Those were not bullet holes because they know nothing about weapons.

Birds pecked at his skin and left the holes.

I wonder if Mother Russia will try to protect these 2 like Victor Bout! I for one seriously doubt it.

Also 500 Thai politicians will not get involved.

Because no KGB veterans involved like with Bout.

So you are saying they are Russian citizens with Russian passports, but they aren't Russian?

You're right, I don't understand what it is you are trying to say.

But at this point, I've stopped caring if I do or not.

Just on the news today, Russia is expecting to be admitted to the WTO and after that their currency will get much stronger. So they ain't going anywhere, learn to like borscht ...

Borscht is made for Russians. But how could they sell their drugs, guns, fake money and whores without leaving their country??

I remember the good old times where the had the Iron curtain. But shit usually happens......:jap:

What goes around comes around. Have you seen the Russians prostituting their Russian women in Pattaya, makes me sick.

100 % agreed. Russians are the only ones who can fly in to U- Tapao airport, direct from fagging Moscow.

Ain't no cops checking Id's? One night for a Thai with a "Russian mai mee arrai puta" more than $ 100. Insane.

They throw old women in jail, selling some Porno Cd's, but these pricks can do what they want.

I'll never forget a couple of years ago, when a Russian freaked out,in a hotel, cops were called. All of them had no education, but a lot of cash. Italian Mafia is like a Kindergarten gang against them.

But no arrest, their boss paid them good money. Thai corruption and Russian Mafia is a very bad and deadly mixture, dangerous for your health. :jap:

MMMmmmm I made remarks on TV earlier this year ....asking the Question " Why do I never see Russians on Visa Runs?" and I got flamed to hel_l.....a simple question I thought.

They only get 15 days on arrival. If they go through the correct channels at BKK...

SADLY some real bad eggs are around and many of them make a bee line for Thailand...not all Russian I might add......They could be Ukrainian / Latvian / Kazakh / Tajiki / Uzbeks / Turkmeni / Georgian / Chechyn...........Uncle Tom cobbly and all....Funny how this thread has not been killed off talking about one Nationality.....??? or are we all on a steep learning curve about some of our neighbours and their possible nefarious activities in the LOS ? Sorry I forgot its actually about the Pattaya police and their excellent investigating techniques..... irony /sarcasm......fact/fiction take yer pick

My father lives in Northern California, where a lot of mariaguna is grow and harvested. Some have Mexican protecting it and some have hired Russian's to protect it. My father tells me, that the Russians have taken all the good hunting grounds from other hunters.

Not even the local Sherriff or FEDs will go in there either. They are out gunned.

Well..I had to go to Germany for medical treatment in May.

There's so many places now where no cops would investigate without 10 SWAT teams.

They do have all the drug, bitch, gun and other businesses in their hands. An American mafia movie is a freaky joke against them.

Everybody knows where the heroine's coming from but no German cops are trying to stop them.

It's so fuc_king scary, guys who lost in Afghanistan with a lot of practice firing a gun, or two at the same time.....Holy Shit...

Five bank accounts? Guess Thai authorities haven't heard anything about the Russian mafia so far?

Amazingly, they can bring their prostitutes into Thailand without a passport or any other ID. Just because the Thais like Russian hores?

Mafia wars and real estate business. money laundering and there's no end. At least local cops are making good money too....... :jap:

Is it really that hard to believe that some crimes are much more serious and will not be tolerated?

You will start to care, when one of those %$^%$^ freaks will knock on your door.

And don't accuse any Russians that time, cos you don't want to have problems with real Russians.

Good night, mr. Bullock.

You have to laugh when a Thai tourism person recently declared Pattaya an ideal family destination. Not sure what family he was talking about though.

Families of the kind that have members with titles such as Capo, con signori , boss of bosses,.

There are loads of really up market hotels in Pattaya. Last week we stayed at the Sheraton. its 5 star for about 6000 baht and it was amazing. There are very few places around the world you can get that comfort for that sort of money.

Last month we stayed at nackula there is a whole strip of up market hotels on the beach and no brass.

Unlike other crime ridden places in the world, the Police do have control in Pattaya.

There are no punch-ups in the streets like most towns in Europe at 11:00pm

Its pretty safe. If you walk down Soi 6 wit hthe family you're in for a bit an eye opener but you can easily swerve that. You can see from the top that its going to be a bit lively.

Those bars on the front of beach road are gradually moving back as real estate prices go up. The sleaze will be hidden in the future.

Hilton have just opened there so I'm sure they did there research. Pattaya is on the way up whatever people say about it on these forums. There are some real classy joints popping up.

anyone seen my rubles?

Everything is wrong with the Russians. Some females are quite nice married or not . The male ones are mostly annoying. Afraid of them ? No, only a few have some brain cells left. They're afraid of the Kurds here where I live. No balls as of yet.

Hope the Lady has the money to discover a part of this mafia.

btw, I'm German and we really like you :whistling:

This OP certainly does give one considerable thought when deciding whether to enlist or purchase services from these people. I do know of one tourist pamphlet that solicits businesses to put their ad in this pamphlet for a fair price, and then tourists pick up the pamphlet for free. There are about 100 pages to this pamphlet. The cost for a full page ad for 6 months is about 30,000 THB. As it turns out, the owner printed about 4 editions, and then pulled a runner. Now there are that many businesses wondering where their money went to. I wonder how many nasty people are hunting for him now? The point being, there are some real crooks here who start up a business, with the intention to bait and hook customers, and then when the money is collected, the business disappears. Caveat emptor!

I think the point has been pretty well laid out that the Thai authorities are in no way equipped to handle this new element in a manner that resembles a law to protect people or the consumers who are fairly normal. It is very sobering and I feel stories like this will be commonplace as territories and their code of law are disputed over; above the law. Again, it's the money and the lust for it.

We all knew this was coming. The bad eggs from around the world congregate in Thailand. And as Pattaya was established as the capital of vice (with beach and night life) since way back when the US Navy used it as an R&R destination, all foreign countries represented have been staking out their territories over the years. From real estate development to night life, the foreigners have landed. The high end clubs and properties are not for the locals, that's for sure. And you'll never have Bangkokians flocking to Pattaya to live when you have Hua Hin. The only reason they haven't yet hit Hua Hin is because of the royal presence there. Phuket? That's another story, their time is coming.

It's going to end up a European territorial war with Thais being the collateral damage. The local authorities are to blame for not managing it better and being on the take since the beginning. It's going to get out of hand exponentially.

I actually think we'll see Thailand coming under increasing Chinese influence in the years ahead. And they won't tolerate the Russian element for long.

You're right. They will start with transportation, like with the train systems (soon to be financed by China) and then move into agriculture and energy. They will own Thailand's infrastructure. But I think the Chinese will give Pattaya it's own rule (like Taiwan)of running things yet find a way to tax it in other secretive and unannounced ways.

Pattaya remains a simple conumdrum. You need to look no further than that.

The latest unacceptable action by the Pattaya Police in releasing the Russian criminal suspects shows that any law can be circumnavigated. The action of carrying a gun is one that would not see a suspect released. Especially, a foreign suspect.

It does underline that ordinary, law abiding persons are put at further risks by releasing such people onto the streets. It can not be argued that such criminals merely confine their activities to their own kind. They do not.

Pattaya, and it was alluded to as such, is a modern Deadwood; lawless and a haven for the world's criminals. It does provide wide spread, cheaply available and socially acceptable prostitution. Hardly a head is turned other than in amusement at the odd pairings that parade the streets. Hence, the wide and continuing influx of sex tourists. Harmless old men living out a re-born youth are not a threat to Thai society. They are a life line. A cash cow propping up Isan incomes where successive Governments fail.

However, the old men at least contain their activities and interests to Pattaya's most widely available commodity; it's children's flesh. More dangerously the influx of professional criminals do not confine their activities to mere sexual exploitation. Perhaps they should be congratulated in exploiting their own ethnicity. The need for money laundering makes their extensive web all pervasive, one much more threatening.

It is the very tourist that Pattaya now publically welcomes and favours; the monied tourist wishing to purchase property, that is exposed to such dangerous persons. As the organised crime syndicates are 'following the money' then we are all at risk. And yet the Police and the higher authorities of the State that control them, do not seek to pursue the villains. Rather, as is shown above, they seek to work co-operatviely with them. Accomodating, and therfore encouraging them.

Pattaya is not a safe place. It is not a place for families if they are of a normal law abiding back ground. Neither is Pattaya a particularly clean, functioning or acceptable place. That is the reality. Moreover, as long as such unfit persons remain unpunished and in positions of political power and are charged with the responsibilty of administering the town, then there is no hope of improvement.

It is corrupt from top to bottom and attracts Thai people with hidden agendas. Tourisism attracts money and money attracts crime. The perpetrators, whatever nationality, are unsavourary, undesirable individuals. In these modern times some of the criminal element wears a mask of respectabiliy by way of occupying positions of public office. That is the case with Pattaya.

Compounding this is Thailand's inability to apply either common sense, logic or the law.

Simply, the place remains the sewer that it is. No surprises there then. But you do need to consider what sewers contain.

You are saying you would feel better if they were prostituting erm erm lets say Ukranian women instead of their own ?

No, just the fact that the police allow foreigners to bring their women to work here illegally makes me wonder how much the Russians pay the police in Pattaya.

They have done the same in Goa India, controlling prostitution and drug sales. They do not hesitate to kill their competition.

What's going on in Thailand, India (Goa), is also happening all over Europe. Most cops in Pattaya, Phuket or any other tourist destinations are involved by taking money to act like the three monkeys.

Shooting first and asking then doesn't really give understandable answers........:jap:

Actually, the individual Chinese are terrified of Russians and the government treats them with the wariness they deserve. The Chinese had deep experience with the Russians from 1949-1960 or so and knows these are the last guys you really want to screw around with. They're as brutal as Asiatics. The Russian mafia can likely hold its own against any.
