Bhum Jai Thai Tight-lipped about PM's Furor

Senior members of government coalition party Bhum Jai Thai are being tight lipped about the prime minister's aggressive stance towards the party.

Interior Minister Chawarat Charnvwirakul, also Bhum Jai Thai leader, declined to comment on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's remark that the government did not need Bhum Jai Thai's participation to remain in office.

Chawarat said he will not make any response to the prime minister's statement and added silence is the best way to resolve disputes.

He said a Cabinet reshuffle was not one of the topics discussed during a meeting with the premier yesterday.

He insisted he is not worried about the speculation that former deputy prime minister Suthep Thaugsuban will soon replace him as interior minister.

Chawarat's son and Bhum Jai Thai co-founder Anuthin Charnwirakul declined to talk about the party's future in the government coalition.

He admitted his father was not happy with his statement expressing “discomfort” in working with the ruling Democrats.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Chai Chidchob, a veteran politician from Bhum Jai Thai, said he is unsure if the prime minister's aggressive speech against the party was aimed to send a particular signal to the party.

But he affirmed Bhum Jai Thai has no conflict with the Democrat Party.

Behind the silence is the unspoken "Oh shit" as BJT realizes they have overplayed their hand. Abhisit hasn't been PM for two years during the most amazing turmoil because of his good looks - he is also one of the most impressive politicians Thailand has ever seen.

They overplayed nothing and Abhisit is not going to kick them out, because he really wouldn't not stay much longer in power without that BJT. And the BJT keeps silent because they have no interest to prove it.

one of the most impressive politicians Thailand has ever seen something like that i heard before. some realised early, some realised much later that they were probably not that accurate with making such a statement.

At this point nothing Red will win seats, Dems still stand a good chance to retain leadership and BJT's constant penny-ante remarks have not done them any good. I think BJT has overestimated their necessity and thus the PM is rightly, giving them a serve. Either way I am not sure Abhisit wants another term of this garbage so in real terms he can say what he likes right now as he really does not care about any comeback after the elections or even if he gets the job.

It is a shame the working class Thai's still can't see him as their best change for the next 10 years if he can try to get corruption under control. The latest army shuffle has been a significant eyebrow raiser that something good may be happening within the armed forces so next, let's see what happens with the BiB. That needs some serious attention. Seems to me the ideal situation is slowly slowly and just take each day one at a time and I think that may be Abhisits game plan. But I like the silent approach then the king hit by the announcements. It is a good strategy against the corruption not being able to learn about changes prior to the event and then they don't have time to reshuffle to take financial gains. Behind it all BJT is just trailing along and trying to get a leg in at any point. Pretty lame on their part!

It is about time to kick them out. The biggest corrupter of all (Newin et al). Mark needed them to form a govt. However, the table have turned, as Dem can form a majority without BJT now.

Nahh, now its proven that the BJT are the bad guys, even in the eyes of the PM. But the PM is such a nice guy, friendly to everybody, so he will be not so mean to kick them out.

The words "the government did not need Bhum Jai Thai's participation to remain in office" were not meant to put a demanding BJT in its corner or back to the the line - no, they were for the critics from outside who accusing the PM that he did a 'dirty' deal with BJT just for stay in power.

Agreed, noting of course that the BJT politicians were among the most influential groups in government during the Thaksin regime. Newin was Thaksin's 'right hand man'.

Abhisit knows this. I suspect he resents having to work with this bunch. I interpret his multiple recent comments expressing discontent with the BJT as the equivalent of a shot over the bow.

Huh? Never spoil a chance to mention Thaksin?

These guys are in the current government. They are not the nicest once as we know it.

But the statement from Abhisit came not to bitch about the BJT, but just to establish some 'self-esteem' and to declare he isn't just together with them and sold his soul to the devil because he wanted to become the PM. He 'could' do it without them, he says.

But don't wait for the day that he will prove it, Abhisits conjunctive moods will never have consequences, is not followed by action that will ever occur.

He has proven his clean image and aversion to corruption multiple times over. He has proven through his policies that he cares for the entire country in ways seldom seen in Thai politics. Evidently you don't follow the news or read any posts that don't fit your ideology.

It means Abhisit has other deals on the table if BJT walks when their 'official leader' gets the axe for cause. The Red's way over playing their had last spring, as made it easier for Abhisit to make those deals with alternate coalition partners.

Of course the deals will be made in the typical Thai political ways, there is no escaping from that reality, but dialing back corruption in any amount is still progress.

BJT has had it's turn at the trough, and has gotten greedy, without them reading the tea leaves properly. Or someone changed the tea after 'their deeds were done' and there is no escaping from their actions.

Over reaching is pretty typical here, especially thinking the old ways are still tolerated. Seems the BJT 'official leader' forgot to believe the times they are a changing.

For the deaths in April and May the entire blame rests with the UDD and PTP leadership.

Suggestion: Don't bring rifles, pistols, grenades, broken bottles, spears, knives, machetes, rpgs, and homemade bombs and projectiles to a 'peaceful protest'.

Yes. Particularly when your job is to reload the weapons for your cousin who is standing next to you firing on police, journalists, civilians, and military personnel.

I think you are competing with that other poster on here for the comedy award.

if he is so averse to corruption why would he appoint Suthep and his deputy when suthep had to resign as an MP over his financial irregularities, or is he just against it when its not one of his own party, and why did his party accept an illegal donation and also break another EC law and rather than face the music the try and influence the courts to find in their favour?

I look forward to your propaganda on this also.

Oh, so the journalists were murdered by redshirts were they? I wonder why they autopsy into these deaths has not been released then, I would have thought if the autopsies exonerated the government they would have been released straight away.

It must be hard to type with your head up your arse, well done.

Speaking of autopsy do you even know what one is. All they will show is how they died not who did it. What makes you think they were going to whitewash the red shirts. Ask your leaders for some thing intelligent for a change.:jap:

All we're left with then is the proven reality that way2muchcoffee speaks of.

I wonder where he gets his 'news' and 'facts' from.

As far as i know there are not much of official statements about investigation results what had caused all the death.

The only journalist where there is proof thus far is the one in the video who was taken out by redshirts along with a few military personnel next to him writhing on the ground covered in blood.
