NiceFarang
Sorry if answered before but my search function does not seem to work. I thought that we had to register 'pay as you go' mobile telephone sim cards now and having recently returned to LOS was intending to do so. But a Thai person tells me it is voluntary? What is the proper situation please?
Firefan
I believe the deadline for doing so is 1st Jan 2006. So better get it done as who knows what trouble could come 1st Jan if not registred. Cheers!

Tywais
At my office at the university, the administrative staff came around with a form asking everone to register their phone. This was just before the July 31 deadline. I asked them if July 31 was really the deadline or was it the end of the year. All of them just didn't know but the university wants it done now. It didn't matter to me because I went to top up my DTAC card just a couple of days before and saw two girls at the counter showing their ID cards and the clerk filling out a form. When she came to me I asked about registration, she pulled the form out and I handed her my Thai drivers license and two minutes later was done and officially registered. Such a simple process so perhaps better early then late.
Koh_Chang_Farang
I registered an AIS number and DTAC number last week at Fashion Island, minburi. Not asked for any ID at all. AIS - just need to fill out a form, DTAC - enter your name & number on register. Edited July 31, 2005 by RDN
