The Wise Old Rabbi

Featured Replies

The cow died in this little Russian villager, so the people got together to decide what to do. There were two options. The first, buy a new cow from Moscow for 3,000 roubles, the second, buy one from Minsk for 750 roubles. The villagers, not having much money, voted to buy their new beast from Minsk.

The cow arrived and went to work, and to everyones amazement, gave gallons and gallons of milk. Enough for the whole village every day. The village Elders got together once more and voted to buy a prize bull, so it would have young and the village was in milk forever. The bull arrived, but every time it went near the cow, she would run away.

So they called for the wise old Rabbi.

" Rabbi" they said " Everytime the bull approaches the cow from behind, she runs off. Every time it comes from the front, she backs off. When the bull walks up to her side, she moves away. What can we do O wise one?"

The Rabbi thoughtfully rubbed his beard for about two minutes.

" You got the cow from Minsk, didn't you?" he finally said.

" Wow!" said the chief elder, " how did you know that?"

" My wife comes from Minsk"
