Where And How Do I Get Government Electricity?

Featured Replies

There's supposed to be a place where I can go to apply for 3thb/unit electricity from the government. Someone told me it's about 750thb to change the meter or something, just fill out a form, pay and wait 1 or 2 weeks.

Does anyone know where exactly this place is where I can apply and perhaps tell me what they payed and how long it took/what you needed to take along for the application?Any more info would be welcome.

Do you own the property ,otherwise you can not in most cases ,change your electric billing .IMO

Up at the end of Naklua far as you can go as it turns right to Sukhumvit

1 or 2 staff speak some english

Some install costs

Passport, property ownership docs needed at least

& approval of condo owner if needed

I assumed you'd just tap into the pole outside your home & avoid all the hassle

:cheesy:

If you are renting then it sounds like your landlord is charging you for your electric at a higher rate that the Government. A common practice I'm afraid. Not much you can do apart from move

Right, most condominium/apartment-mangements and a few housing-estate-owners, charge somewhat between THB 6- THB 8 per unit for electricity. They mark up approx. 100% on the regular electric fee.

Chances of changing the way of billing in your favor is almost nill.

Advise: Try to find an apartment/condo/house where you'll be charged nothing (included in rent) or the regular electric fee.

Beware: The mark up on the electric fee is mostly used for the lightning in the building, the pool, security guard, cleaning and maintenance.

If you're able to find a condominium with 'normal' electric fees, they'll get their service fee in another way. (eg. higher rent or service fee)
