U.S. sends transportation security experts to Yemen

2010-11-02 01:42:13 GMT+7 (ICT)

NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) -- U.S. Transportation Security Administration chief John Pistole on Monday said the country sent transportation security experts to Yemen to help screen U.S.-bound cargo.

Pistole told CBS's "Early Show" the U.S. team will provide screening and training to make sure the cargo transported from Yemen to the U.S. is safe.

Two bombs were found aboard U.S.-bound cargo jets in England and Dubai on Friday, officials said, sparking an international airline security scare and prompting U.S. authorities to search several planes and increase aviation security.

The U.S. banned all air cargo shipments from Yemen to the United States after the plot blamed on Al Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula was discovered. The U.K., France and Germany also banned all freight from Yemen.

In response to Friday's terror plot, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it will take a number of steps to enhance aviation security.
