Fraud Attempt In Thaivisa Classifieds

A seller is currently advertising a motorcycle (Yamaha T-Max) for sale in the Thaivisa Classifieds section for only THB 95.000. This price is very low and too good to be true, for an almost new motorcycle with green registration book. I tried to contact the seller, who claims that he is now working in Italy, but still need to sell the bike, which has been left here.

Unconveniently the seller has no friends in Thailand who he can trust, and offer personally to fly all the from Italy to meet you in Bangkok, for this one reason to sell the bike to you. But first you will have to deposit the price in one of your friends name at Western Union. The seller claims that he already went here once to sell the motorcycle, but the first buyer did not want to buy, so the seller require some kind of guarantee, that the money will be available. The seller claims it to be 100% safe for you, to deposit the amount at Western Union in your friends name, and then send a scanned copy of the receipt to the seller. After receiving the scan, the seller will make appointment to meet you in Thailand, so that you can see and test the motorcycle, before you make the final decision to buy.

As far as I see, anyone with the money transfer number from Western Union (and eventually a fake ID), will be able to get access to the money deposited, so please all be warned and do not allow yourself to get fooled by this seller.

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably isn´t true.B)

OP Can you provide a link to the offending AD if it's not already been removed.

Since there seems to be no 'report' function in classifieds either PM or email Admin[at]thaivisa.com with the link.

This is the classified ad from the scammer: http://classifieds.thaivisa.com/automotives-vehicles/motorcycles/yamaha-t-max-scooter-500cc-sport-scooter-71736.html

Please note, how the cars are driving in the right side of the road opposite to Thailand.

its deleted, in the future please email support (at) thaivisa.com with the link.

Of course, fraudsters will be deleted and banned upon notification but as always with any online purchases its buyer beware and use your common sense.

cheers
