Renting A Car From Bkk To The North

Featured Replies

i am looking for a reliable relatively cheap car rental company to rent a small car for my travelling needs for 3-4 days to north of thailand

anybody can help?

thanks

there is another Travel-fair at IMPACT MuangThongThani fair grounds from 4th-7th of November.

there you will find all the Thai car-rental-companies, such as AVIS, BUDGET, HERTZ, THAI-RENT-A-CAR, and ALL will have Promo offers. usually you can buy vouchers at 699-799 baht per day for an economy-car (Manual or Auto), and then you can use them for your planned trips. Budget and Avis, if I remember that right, give you even one Voucher extra if you buy more than 5 Vouchers. Credit-cards accepted.

I do it that way since 7 years, I always go to those travel-fairs, buy vouchers (usually valid for 1 year) and then use them whenever I need it (or in one case I sold them to a friend when I had no use for it).

for that price, the cars are fully insured, though there is usually a Lumpsum of 5.000 - 8.000 Baht involved, in case of an accident. but paying an extra fee (around 150-160 baht per day), you can get that waived entirely.

Also, some Companies charge higher for weekends than for weekdays (AVIS does that, for example), so shop around a little. Usually, the car-rental booths are all very near to each other.

doing it that way, I never in my life paid more than 1.200 Baht per day for renting a car in Thailand (and I have rented cars at least 25 times in the past 7 years).

while those travel-fairs (the ones at Queen Sirikit center are usally better and attract more people and more businesses than those at IMPACT) are for Thai people, the staff at the car-rental-booths usually can speak enough English.

i would pick up the Bangkok Post when I arrive at suvanapharm, look under car rentals and book a car. 1000 baht per day, free mileage and they send the car to the airport. Return also at airport. pay by credit card/cash, no problem. will require a deposit which is refundable upon return of car. i have done this several times, no hassle.
