No, not TV but television chefs- Ok, a bit off the wall but was watching Rick Stein's cooking program (Suffolk Cod in this case) and wondered whatever became of the one and only "Floyd" (?)

In Thailand you can view Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver (pansy) Tyler's ultimate, Tanner bros etc, etc but no more FLOYD, easily the best cure for a hangover, a total culinary inspiration and a great laugh in the bargain :o

Any other armchair chef's out there and do you have a fav TV chef?

Agree 100%, Floyd is a legend.

I remember visiting a riverside pub when I was living in Totnes,Devon. We were surprised to fing Keith Floyd propping up the bar together with a lovely young blond. After buying the guy a drink(glass of red) he told us he was the owner.Maybe he's still doing that.

He looks alot fresher on tv than real life!!

Apart from Floyd, Rick Stein is OK.Nice and simple but the food always looks great.Tanner bros are mildly irritating and Jamie Oliver unwatchable. The only worse one must be that Canadian bird trying to do Italian cooking.

Great to hear Floyd's still having a good time- not sure about his liver tho :D My fav was his visit to a French vineyard. The sommelier was a bit pompous, puts this beautiful bottle of wine in front of Floyd and then goes on and bloody on talking about the correct way to 'breathe it', hold, caress and the tone, colour, bouquet, blah, blah, blah and suddenly Floyd up and grabs the bottle and takes a gulp from the neck! :o

Another fav was when he almost burnt down his hotel room while in Egypt (?) because they wouldn't let him cook in the kitchen. Natch, Floyd fires up a portable cooking stove in his room and on with the show (and fire alarms)!

I like Rick Stein in a different way, must be my Brit/Scot lineage but I enjoy his travels all over the UK looking for all past and present preservations of British fare. Suffice to say, some of what I see him cooking I used to pass off to one of my brother's plates when no one was looking... :D

I actually think that Jamie Oliver is OK. For a young bloke he has done an awful lot. BUT, I'm not British and I don't see the saturation of Jamie as you guys have over there.

In Australia, I really liked Jeff Jantz. He was funny, and had great guests on his show.
