grimleybob
I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who have written the odd poem. So lets here them. Original work only I'll start it off with one I wrote many years ago, a true story entitled Roberts Rabbit Robert wanted a little pet He thought He'd like a rabbit He promised to feed and clean it out If his mother would let him have it With nails and bits of orange box he built a little hutch and he finally got the Bunny he wanted oh so much The cleaning out and feeding at first he did adore but it wasn't very long before it all became a chore one day passed without her food and the rabbit wasn't happy when it happened once again she became quite snappy When cleaning out the beast one day he allowed his hand to linger so the rabbit siezed her chance to bite a chunk out of his finger There's not much point in having a pet when you cannot even touch her so he put her in a cardboardbox and sold her to the butcher The moral of the story is a plain and simple one if you bite the hand that dosen't feed you Stewpot here you come
jazzbo
At someone's suggestion I wrote a poem in the late 80s about the Alaska Oil Spill -- I haven't a copy -- it was about 5 or 6 stanzas but I only remember the last 2 lines: Forgive us, our captain, our fate if you please We were ALL on that tanker -- The Exxon Valdiz

Who dined on Chilli and Som Tam Sadly, It gave her horrendously bad breath. So strong was the odour. Her Farrang man told her it was all over..... Even though he loved her to death....... grimleybob
THE LAST DUEL His coat once sleek and black Now matted with sweat and dust The bull, once proud Now waits to die Picador’s lances have done their job The fire now gone he stands dripping in blood Ole Ole the crowd all sing As the executioner enters the ring Ole Ole the crowd all say Just one more bull And we’ll call it a day With sharpened reflex he taunts the bull Until the time has come when With one thrust of sword He must sever the spinal cord But the bull decides he’s not about to die And if with one last lunge he could gore He’d try to even up the score With thrust of blade The crowd all sigh As a pointed horn Rips open a thigh And with nostrils flared and eyes of fire Rippling muscles no longer tired He turns to finish off the job With broken limbs and ruptured spleen The Matadore plays out his die-ing scene The Bull now proud Kneels before the silent crowd And with one last contented sigh Rolls over in the dust to die Robert Grimshaw 1990
