Opposition blames Government for being too slow to respond to flood stricken provinces

BANGKOK, 4 November 2010 (NNT) -- In response to the the Opposition Party's criticism that the government has been unable able to reach out to all flood victims, the government has brushed aside the claims, saying that the relief efforts have been in time and without bias.

According to Pue Thai MP Prayut Siripanich, the government’s relief efforts have been very slow, particularly in the Northeast and the Central, compared to its relief operations in the South.

Responding on behalf of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Sathit Wongnongtoey said the government had done its best to cope with floods in every region, and had not been selective in helping flood victims across the country. A rescue center and a committee have also been set up to make sure that all victims equally get all the help they need.

Mr. Sathit added that the government had also coordinated with related agencies to monitor the relief-budget distribution to help flood victims to keep corruption at bay.

As expected, the PTP will say anything to make the Dems look bad,

in the hopes of making themselves look like they have a clue.

So what exactly has PTP done for the people in the south who

have the same flooding problems as those in the north?

So a PTP mp says it was too slow, but that implies that the

government IS doing somethings to help those in the north.

Please, tell us Kuhn Prayut; pray tell, what help PTP have given to

those in the south, who don't vote for you?

Let's face it that would be the opposition's position in most countries.

Let's face it that would be the opposition's position in most countries.

But in most countries the opposition would ALSO act to help.

The only way to have anything resembling a good claim to the moral high ground,

is to show how well you CAN do it better, not just say it's done wrong.

The army went to Issan to help, the navy went to the south to help.

This showcases their relative strengths in each geographical problem area.

Using their assets the most logically.

I love how people point fingers at the government or one political party points the finger at another during times of natural disasters. God forbid people realize they live in a flood zone and build houses accordingly or stock food, this happens all over the world and then of course it is their governments fault, F'n Humanity a blight on this world (ok sometimes)

Why didn't the PTP raise the fact that an aircraft carrier was sent to the south, but wasn't sent to the north?

Super comment, made my day really

Instead of complaining about the government, why don't they take some of that Thaksin money and help out themselves?

So easy to complain, but it actually takes work to do something meaningful. I think that the people who need help simply need help, not to be a political issue.
