I'd like to go the open market commonly referred to as Sanam Luang 2, I'm looking for some lucerne grass seed and I've been told this market could be the place to go to. I think it's in the Bhuttamonton( pronounced Puttamonton) area, in the north-western outskirts of Bangkok. Does anybody know what buses go there from central Bangkok?

Yours,

bannork.

Thonburi Market (Sanam Luang 2)

There are many ways to access this market such as:

- Go up Pin Klao-Nakhon Chaisri Road to Putthamonton 3 Road. Turn right at Suan Saeng Dhama Intersection and go straight to Thonburi Market.

          - Go up Petchakasem Road to Putthamonton 3 Road. Turn left at Suan Saeng Dhama Intersection and go straight to Thonburi Market.

          - Take the bus no. 91k (from Tha Pra to Thonburi Market) or the bus no. 165 (from Siriraj to Putthamonton Sai 3 Road).

          - Go up Om Noi Road and turn left into Putthamonton Sai 4 Road. Pass Sinpattana Thani and go along the road which is at the back of Thonburi Market.

No. 91ก Tha Phra -Thonburi Market from BMTA site

For the ones who come by bus,

there are 3 BMTA buses passing by the area:

1. No. 91ก Tha Phra – Thonburi Market

2. No. 165 Sanamluang – Tha Phra – Puttamonthon 3

3. No. 125 Sung Hee Bridge – Puttamonthon 3 – Thonburi Market - Mahidol – Salaya

For Drive
If you come from Bangkhae or Pinklao-Nakhon Chaisri road, you can drive to ring road, reach Phetkasem

road at The Mall Bangkhae and head to Nong Khaem on Phetkasem road until the entrance of Setthakit

village on right hand side. On left hand side, there is a big four-faces Buddha on the road and you cross

Klong Thawiwattana bridge. At your left hand side, you’ll see a road paralleling to Thawiwattana canal

and you’ll have to make a u-turn in front of Nan Yang Weaving Company which is about 500 meters far

from the bridge. Then you head to Bangkhae. After making u-turn, you try to keep left in order to get into

Lieb Klong Thawiwattana road and drive about 5.7 kms. At your left hand side, there is an entrance and

a sign “Entrance to Sanamluang 2”

Bannork,

I lived in the area for almost 2 years. Just down the road from Sanam Luang 2. I pm'd you easy directions. If you don't know where all the roads are that Bambi mentioned it's very difficult to find your way around. Most of the time you go my landmarks.

PM me if you need another route; my brother-in-law says I should be a taxi driver, :o

Good Luck,

[the 91KOH and 165 do NOT run as said above anymore (BMTA ONLY adapts its site every 2nd year or so), but oNLY from the Petchkasem rd along Bang Khae: take any bus going there and wait at the market, the 165 is ONLY red=normal and it may take some time, the 91koh has been chnaged into a ringroute serving hitherto unserved roads far out in the west. and forget the 125: it always runs to the Kasert-2 UNI, with another change there needed. there are now also, myuch more freqeunt red SONGHTHaews from bang Khae.
