Is There A Clear Varnish Paint That Lasts Longer Than A Year ?

I have a Thai style house the drawback being that there is a lot of painting maintenance.

I initially started of using ICI Cuprinol Woodstain Satin Finish H212 this only lasted a year.

Then my new painting contractors suggested Akzo Nobel Sadolin Yacht Clear Gloss with special UV and Salt Water Protection, this alternative didn't even last as long as the ICI product.

I am looking for a paint, and also a filler that bear extreme conditions of UV sunlight along with monsoon rains.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Preparation before application could be the reason why it only lasts a year.

I would also go to a boat/yacht supplier and get a recommended varnish from them that should be more durable for longer lasting.

Prep is KEY for coatings, and often the difference between a good & bad job. RTFM, as they say, and don't skimp on the prep labor & materials. let us know what you ultimately use, and how it turns out, eh?

I did an outdoor teakwood table with TOA Boat Varnish 3 years ago, still perfect, the table was sanded back to the bare wood and for mixing with thinner for the initial coats i used TOA Alkyd thinner No 21.

I was going to try Sadolin but unfortunately the nearest place to me that stocks it is about 125km away.

the OP thinks this is not a good product but does anyone know of a better one?

Beger semi gloss, on teak rails, sanded and cleaned with Beger product, exposed to sun but no rain, 2 years

the more sun hours during a day, the less varnish left

Is there any varnish available here with Euro spec? Most yacht products back home are good for 5-10 years like Hempel, National etc

Unfortunately for me I need to redo the front balcony which is wood though what sort I am not sure.

It is about 10 x 3 metres and exposed to both sun and rain at the ends but the centre is pretty much protected.
