Yes - I heard about the electrocuted people outside/inside a Family Mart as well. The 'story' that I heard was that they were electrocuted because someone switched the power back on or started a generator! Will we ever know the truth? Sad though.:(

I was under the impression that the power cuts were ordered by the local government so as to avoid this kind of accident?

Ruomor that I heard was; Thursday, shortly before 1pm the elctric was turned back on in the Laem Din area (after being of for 1,5 days). A substation near the 7-11 (0r Family Mart) on the corner with Soi Reggae was still under water at the time and 5 people were electrocuted and died. They immediately turned the electric back of and it wasn't tuned back on until Friday late morning, when most of the water was gone.

well there is no excuse for samui express to not be 30 pages thick in the next issue. plently of news to write about. make or brake time for the local papers. if they cannot fill pages thick of info then they obviuosly are in the wrong game. should sell it ofr quit

No need for understanding the Thai language. It says enough if you just take a look at the pictures on the front page.

This way, you could think a Thai horror movie on TV is actually daily news.

no thai horror have to have ghosts in them. in fact so do thai soap operars and thai news. in fact everything has a ghost in thailand..

wtahc a thai action movie at the moment. it starts off normally then all the people that were killed come back and kill the killers aftere they are dead.

a bit like a jackie chan movie but instead of jackie chan killing the bad people. jackie chan gets killed then his ghost comes back and kicks ass.

I drove right passed the scene and could see all the people and police but thought it was a road accident.

with regards to figures put out by Thailands authorities a good marker would be their latest claim that tourism is up on last year?

the whole point of printing the statitics is so people are more aware of what is happening and where so that they can make more informed dissions about how they decide to go about there daily business.

that shooting was in todays thai paper for thais though there was no picture. my GF translated that they think it might be gambling ralated ot love triangle or something. basically that means that it could be anything.

so lession learned. don't get into gambling out here or love triangles.

it also said in the news paper that they are going to look at the security cams on the 7/11 near by.

thats it.

just passed on information.

my own opinion is that toursit do not need to worry. most thais go out of there way to make life safe for the tourists. even though they want money but they are a business. Yes u do get on occasions forangs in trouble with thais but the gerneral feeling umong the magority of thai people is that they do not really want to make too make violent problems with forangs saying that they will not allow themselves to be bullied by us and will not back down if we rtaise our voices to them even thiugh they can fustrating at times.

My 2 pences worth is. i u have a problem with a thai then find another thai friend to try to clear everything.

most thais do the same with forangs. if they have a problem with us they do not really like to get invloved in forang and forang fights. Even though i have been threaten a few times by forangs saying they have an army of thais to back them up. Up to them though i haven't been bashed by an army of thais yet.

i did some digging and i herd from govement poeople that there was 2 forangs 1 man and 1 lady and a dog. they got electricuted and the dog died but not the forangs.

not sure where this rumer was started.

if true yes said about the dog but incorrect information.

like i said it is normally thai on thai. anyway i feel fare less intimadated in thailand than back home. no matter how many shootings and stabbings and robberys/ so if i feeel more relaxed then that it better than walking around phyiced up all the time like back home.

as for daily occurence there might be 3 shootings in 3 days then none fore 3 months. u cannot tell when these things are going to happen.

anyway i don't really care. if u look for trouble and walk around too relaxed. i see forangs doing really stupid things out here. ki,e standing on top of cars whilst being driving. driving super fast and drunk, walking around half naked, people getting invloved with nasty people, people thinking they are gangsters and starting a new life of crime out here ( i mean thailand of all places ), people boasting about not wearing condoms, people leaving there front doors unlocked, people picking up strangers, people smoking happy backy on the beach, driving on the wrong side of the road, people complaining about nothing when the answer for there problem is simple, doing deals without contracts and lawyers and spending big money without anypaper work, people outstaying there visa for 3 months it is like some of us leave there brains back home.no wonder some thai look at us like we a buffalows
