Pattaya Haze

What is causing the Pattaya Haze,as opposed to Purple Haze which was caused by Jimi Hendrix?

I know there's slash & burn way down south:

By Nopporn Wong-Anan

SINGAPORE - Fires set off to clear forest illegally on Indonesia's Sumatra island are sending clouds of haze across the Malacca Strait to neighbouring Malaysia and Singapore, causing the worst air pollution since 2006.

Apart from being a health hazard, the haze can inflict economic costs by scaring off tourists and disrupting transport and farming.

... but considering all the rain we've had there can't be much burning in the region generally. ???

Every morning when I am out walking, I see lit fires by squatters wanting to keep warm. I also see swathes of scrub being burned off by persons unknown. Also, some villagers seem to dispose of their garbage by just burning them off in the open. It hasn't rained in Pattaya for over a week, there has been a rather dry wind blowing so I guess things are dry enough to be burnt now. Just my guess to explain the haze.

The "haze" I am observing is due to the change of weather. It is the cooler temperatures which create the mositure in the air. If you notice, by 11am the sun burns off the haze as it warms up.

Moisture is down by the way during this time of the year.

But it is not to hazy and smelly. Remember it's all the same during this time of the year. Now I even can see some blue sky. Maybe one's Saeng Som of last night was a cheap copy?!?!

You may be right, but on Sunday it got considerable worse as they day wore on and today in the afternoon looking south towards Jomtien and Rayong it has the definite appearance of smog. It doesn't smell of smoke or industrial crap, but it seems (totally unscientific observation) that that I'm hearing more people than usual coughing & wheezing.
