Hi Everybody,

This morning I posted a question, but due to inappropriate content the thread was closed and the post was deleted. I never intended things to be in a negative way, but I guess I didn't express myself proper. I humbly apologize for it.

Nevertheless, I seek your expert advice to help a friend of mine who has broken the law, but wants to correct it the proper way without being having to be penalized too much. This is the case:

One of my friends managed to enter Thailand by illegal means. Although she had a valid passport, she had no valid visa during the time of entry. She didn't enter via a immigration checkpoint so she doesn't have any arrival stamps or anything. Realizing the blunder she has caused to herself, she wants to leave now - but in the correct, legal way. She has managed to send the passport to a overseas Thai consulate and get a Valid visa. So currently her passport has a valid Thai Visa, but nevertheless, her stay and entry in Thailand is still illegal.

I am seeking advice on how she could leave Thailand legally, back to her country. What should she do? I'm sure it would be stupid to get a ticket and walk to the Airport. The immigration will see she has no valid entry and then that would lead to a whole lot of other problems. I know she's done wrong, but she sure can repent isn't it? So what is the best way to leave Thailand the proper way without having to undergo too much pain.

I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by posting this and asking such a question.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Shaf

Probably inappropriate (as it would be illegal) but would it not be easiest to go back out the way she came in?

Certainly, since the visa was obtained illegally whilst she was in Thailand any visit to immigration will result in it being cancelled, so that's a wasted job :(

What is her nationality as that's pretty likely to have bearing upon how immigration react when she goes cap-in-hand to attempt to fix the issue.

Yes, I know she's got herself into some deep s**t

Well, she was visiting Malaysia and had to visit Thailand for something very personal. Lets say, something like Life and death. And at that point, she didn't have a Valid visa for Thailand and did not have the time or luxury to apply for one. So she crossed the border illegally. I'm not sure if going back the same way would work.

Realizing that she's in Thailand the illegal way, and without a Visa, she had got the visa applied using an agent by sending her passport out. Now, I learn that's an offense too :S, anyway, what's done is done.

So, now its about, what can be done next. In a situation like this, what should she be doing? Is there a way to walk free by paying a fine or something?

Moreover, If getting the visa while she was in thailand was an offense, may be she can hide that fact? She can always say she had the visa before she entered, or something similar, isn't it?

I'm just wondering, not suggesting anything in particular, you understand :)

What happens when people lose their passports? I imagine they would go to their embassy and get some kind of emergency passport which may be valid for one journey home. This emergency passport would obviously not have any Thai immigration stamps in it as it would have been issued in Thailand.

Does anyone know what you would do when leaving the Kingdom on such a document? Do you just turn up at the exit point as usual, or do you need to go to an immigration office first?

Again you have resorted to illegal activity after saying you would not post on this subject again. This thread is closed.
