CMExpat79
I am going to head to Laos next month for a x2 tourist visa, I need to leave Thailand by the 8th Dec, so am thinking of getting the bus from Chiang Mai to Udon Thani then onto Friendship bridge and flying back ...hence I am trying to confirm which dates the consulate will be open. I have visited the site, and it seems on Monday 6 December it is a substitute for the Kings birthday - so I am assuming they will be closed on this day? Secondly - on Friday 10th December is Constitution Day - again I am assuming this day they are closed too. My question is - does anyone know if they will be open on the Tues/ Wed and Thurs? or will they just shut down for the whole week? ...I don't want to book my return flight for the wednesday if I haven't managed to hand my passport in the day b4 due to them being closed Thanks
afarang
No, they only close for the one day ,of the actual holiday, unless the date of the holiday is a Sat. or Sun, in which case the Mon. is closed , as a day in lieu
klauswernst198
Don't even think about going those days. Probably halve of the staff will take days off and the rest will be in a very bad mood with thousands of applicants, I know one person who went there 3 or 4 years ago in the middle of these 2 national holidays and he told me it was also terribly crowded since people who should have come on the holidays will come as well on that day so I would guess that the number of applicants it twice as much as on a normal day. This will halve of the staff smell like a disaster to me. Good luck if you still wanna go
