Hi,

Does anyone have any recent knowledge of how much in funds a Thai has to show in thier bank book to visit Aus for 1 week ?

We did try calling the Embassy who told us "they didn't know".

Thanks in advance.

as far as Im aware there is no amount. she does have to show it. but if you are supplying support then that would be the main thing they need that you are able to support her for the duration of her visit. I know that was the case with my GF

Thanks for the reply.

I will NOT be supplying support, hence asking how much they would need to show in the bank.

There is no set amount listed, What would be reasonable for a person to support themselves for a week, taking into account hotel bills, transport, food and entertainment etc...

Depending on the circumstances the Embassy will decide if there is sufficient funds, if not sufficient the visa will not be granted.

My partner has had three tourist visas to Australia and on each occasion we have had about 23,000 baht in our joint account and I signed a letter of support. It also largely depends upon how long you have been together.

Reg. 679.212 of the Migration Regulations provides that an applicant must have adequate funds, or access to adequate funds, for personal support during the period of the proposed visit to Australia.

What amounts to adequate funds therefore will be determined by the purpose and duration of the proposed stay in Australia. For example a visitor who is intending to visit Australia for 3 months staying in 5 star hotels would be required to have significantly more than a visitor staying for two weeks with friends where accommodation is provided.

Besides money in the bank, the main concern is - what assurance or incentive does the person applying for a visa have or give to return to Thailand.

As above, include any rental agreements, enrolments in study or permission to take time off work etc. Need to show tie's to Thailand. The issue of how long you have been together, isn't set in stone. I knew my gf for only 4 months and we got a visa for her and I had only come back twice to see her. Showing your relationship is genuine always helps (phone records, photos etc). Better to put too much then not enoguh.
