Market Survey For Falang Food Delivery Service To Remote Areas

Just wondering if any of the falangs living out in the remote areas of northern Thailand would patronise a falang food delivery service that would supply quality falang products available........like decent beef, German sausages, meat pies, falang chips, good breads, pastries, potatoes and other falang veges......other suggestions please.

Prices would be around Rimping [CM] retail prices. delivery maybe once a week and special orders made by phone or Internet.

Could provide weekly service to CR, Mae Sai, Chiang Dao, Pai, or any other areas with a few falangs who crave foods from their homelands and don't want to make the drive to CM..... any other place suggestions in the north??

Your responses please.....

I doubt they would deliver to some of the more remote farangs so many would have to come into CR to pick the goodies up anyway, and there's quite a selection available there these days.

I doubt it would work, reading this forum seems to reveal the locals are spoiled for choice regarding the goods you mention.

So, does CR have any supermarkets comparable to CM's Rimping'?? Is there a source of excellent whole wheat breads, german sausages etc??

And that's CR you are refering to......what about more remote areas like Chiang Sean, Mae Sai, Chiang Dao, Pai?? All have a sprinkling of falangs and guest houses that cater to falangs.

There is a fairly good selection of places to buy from in the main City of Chiang Rai, several Deli's , Makro Big C and Dons . Mae Chan has a large Tesco Lotus with a few western products as does Mae Sai. There are also several outlets making very good bread, Tourist Inn and Davinci to name 2.

Sausage King is providing a service for us here with even a recent visit selling their range of goods, take a look at their website.

What I do think is needed are dry goods, like tin foods, English biscuits, Tetley and PG tips Tea bags, the sort of stuff Churnchim of Udon Thani are supplying to the farangs in Issan with reasonable prices.

Its a scary thought if you are hoping to sell with Rimping prices (daylight robbery ) some of their goods have a 400% mark-up.

If rice that is imported to Thailand had that sort of pricing the country would starve to death.

As the previous poster mentioned , the remoteness of where so many foreigners live it would make more sense to do what sausage King did, arrange a day or so to visit Chiang Rai , set a location and a time and we would come and see what you have or travel to the other local places if you have the customers in the other areas to make it worth your while to go to them.

If you do decide to venture into this market I wish you luck, I would buy from you if you had what I wanted , maybe make a list of what you can supply and put the feelers out but for sure Rimping Prices are way too high in my opinion , but saying that , I have bought a lot of expensive stuff there , purely because no one else has it and I treated myself to the luxury items I took fro granted back home.

Good Luck. :D
