Will October be better? I'm not expressing optimism on this, but I will speculate that there is a *possibility* that the ESPN Star decision to drop the NFL really caught Truevisions by surprise. Perhaps, having had all of September, and all of our protests, to work something out, they will put out a more accurate schedule in the October magazine.

As I said, I'm not optimistic. I'm just presenting a reason to hold out some hope. I will add that, if they don't do so, it will convince me of their total incompetence with regard to the whole concept of scheduling. Personally, I'm only counting on video streaming of games. Whatever comes on UBC, I'll take. But I'm not expecting much from them anymore.

Hoping that they prove me wrong!

well seeing this game i decided to take another look - and surprise surprise!!!!!! :o

i have the october printed schedule. i just looked at the sun oct 7 / mon oct 8.

here is what i see...

sun 0700, nfl 2007

sun 1600 nfl 2007 pats v cinnci

mon 0000 nfl 2007 sea v pitt

mon 0315 nfl 2007 sd v den

mon 1900 nfl 2007

mon 2130 nfl 2007

those last two may be repaets of the early am games

wow could it be some light is starting to show in this tunnel.....

now the pats chargers are on cnbc (73) maybe last weeks game but i have been in a football bubble so that is ok

Now that really pisses me off! I didn't get to see this game last week. I listened to it on the NFL.com's "Field Pass" radio feed. This was a HUGE win for my Patriots. Your tip came in as the game entered the 4th quarter. Oh well. I still appreciate that you took the time to post this. Thanks!

yea i figured you would be interested in this one

hopefully if everyone posts when they see games we can determine a pattern and start knowing when/where to look. its like kremlinology..maybe if games start appearing i will keep my true feed, give them another week and see what happens

Good point, and ggod suggestion, K-man. Just a tip for those who don't already do so; check the option to get an email notification of all posts to this thread. That way, as long as your email is active, you'll know when somebody posts a "game on" notice.

And now, following the Pats-Chargers replay, CNBC is running the NFL weekly highlights show of all of last week's games.

OOPS! Sorry. It's the WEEK 1 highlights show! What a circus this Truevisions NFL coverage is!

hahahahahaa

so if the schedule for oct is real, then maybe tomorrow evening there will be two games as per the earlier note

Hey, hey, looks like they are 'getting on the ball' somewhat. Here're a couple of comments I sent to True in the last week, and their responses.

First, to them via the 'contact us' link at their web site:

'Hi, regarding the NFL broadcasts of the two Sunday games in the States, which are aired Monday at 0:00 and 3:15 AM live, you seem to not have any replays of these games. What's happening? As another one of the NFL fans greatly concerned about the situation surrounding NFL broadcasts on True, I would ask that those games be aired for replay showings on Monday evenings, as had been the case for years. Many times it's not possible to watch live at those early hours, especially both games. The edited replays (with timeouts, and stoppages of play and the halftime break edited out of the broadcast) of these games on a Monday evening were a huge attraction. Honestly, I found it quite enjoyable to watch the same-day evening replays when I couldn't watch live. (Monday is a work day, after all, and the live broadcasts just take so long to watch.) Please get the NFL replays back on the air on Monday evenings. Sincerely, Ron'

They sent an email response within a day or so.

Dear Mr. Ron: We are terribly sorry for late reply and for any inconvenience caused. Please be informed that the NFL games mentioned will be rerun as the schedule below

OK, that's not quite the answer I was looking for, so I sent them this to the email address just above.

"Dear True Visions,

Thank you for a prompt reply to my inquiry.

I need to comment further on the replay schedule for NFL games.

What was great about having the replays on Monday evening was that I and other viewers--and this is most important--if we were careful in this day and age of instant communications and the internet, we were able to watch the replays of the games without having already known the results.

it is difficult, but possible, to stay 'blacked-out' about the results, who won or lost, for 12 hours or so. That makes the Monday evening replays such a great attraction, they are timely, and also so convenient, because the workday is over.

But now you have the replay of the first game on Wednesday at noon, and the second game on Thursday at noon. That's terrible, for two reasons.

1) It's impossible to stay 'blacked-out' about the results that long, by Tuesday you will know who won, and 2) mid-day is a bad time to air the games.

I--and I think most NFL fans agree--am not interested in watching games played three or fours days prior, for which we already know the results beforehand. They would have very little interest for me.

And now, with no broadcasts of the Sunday Night and Monday Night Football Games on True Visions, things are worse that before.

Can you work to change the schedule and give viewers the replays of the two games on MONDAY EVENING, providing them with at least one evening a week to enjoy NFL football?

Sincerely, Ron

And here's what they said to that.

Dear Mr. Ron:

We are terribly sorry for late reply and for any inconvenience caused.

However, please be informed that we will pass this comment to the related party for further consideration and improvement.

Your patience would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

So give them some credit, Monday evening replays--at least according to the schedule--are there. Still, let's keep the pressure on, trying to get the SNF and MNF games, and making sure things will be kosher for the playoffs!

It's the game that was on "live" last night at midnight - the Eagles (and those incredibly ugly "alternate" uniforms!) and the Giants. I won't spoil it for those who don't know the results. But have some Pepto Bismol handy to deal with looking at those uniforms! :-)

I'm starting a Yahoo Group of NFL fans I've become acquainted with in various groups (Pats fan email groups, Fantasy Football leagues, Thai Visa, etc.). I hope for it to be a place where we can all exchange views, and discuss the NFL, without a lot of peripheral discussion interfering. Here's the message I've posted at the top of the Group page:

________________________________________________________________________________

___________________________________

A place for NFL fans living outside of the USA to discuss the NFL. This will include:

- international TV and internet access to NFL game broadcasts.

- Games

- Teams

- Players, Coaches, and Owners

- The NFL draft

- Any general subject related to the NFL.

- a reasonable amount of "smack" and good natured joking.

This will NOT include:

- political, religious, or racial discussion or insults!

- mean spirited "flaming"

- Spamming of any kind. (Information regarding FREE access to NFL information or broadcasts is not only permitted, it is encouraged. But no posts related to anything required a "fee" will be allowed. If a member has some NFL related item or service he or she considers of interest to members, send it to me by personal email, and I will decide whether or not to allow it to be presented to the group.)

Membership in this group will be accessible by invitation only. I will moderate it, to ensure that the very minimal restrictions above are observed. I've established this group for all expatriated NFL fans to have fun, and stay as connected to this great sport as possible. Having fun with the NFL will definitely involve some dead serious discussion among dedicated fans of a team. I will NOT interfere with such such discussion, as long as members refrain from personal insults. I have no problem with profanity, as long as it is NOT directed at another group member.

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!

- George

I just received my copy of the Truevisions Magazine for October. Good news, bad news, and continued confusion.

According to this schedule, we will have BOTH the Sunday night, and Monday night games "live" next week! It shows the Sunday night Eagles at Giants game at 0715 Monday, and the Monday night Patriots (YES!) at Bengals game at 0730 Tuesday. Both are listed on TS4. That's the initial good news.

The schedule does NOT show the usual broadcast of the (USA) Sunday afternoon games at midnight and 0300 on Monday, Oct 1.

Reviewing the rest of the month, I see a return to broadcast of those 2 "Sunday afternoon" games at midnight and 0300 each Monday; but NO broadcast of any additional Sunday night or Monday night games on Monday and Tuesday mornings here.

I won't even bother to comment further. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what we get, as usual.

They have shown the West Virginia/ South Florida games a few times this weekend on ESPN, and I caught the end of the Titans/ Saints game on CNBC yesterday. Right now they are rebroadcasting the Organ State/ UCLA game on ESPN (I have to flip between the NCAA game and the RWC Fuji/Welsh game on Star Sports).

I truly do not understand how a company that is in the "communications" business can be so totally incompetent in communicating a very simple thing like a schedule. They have a website. Last time I checked, a website can be updated INSTANTLY! I'll give them a break on the magazine, because that copy had to be submitted a couple of weeks ago to be printed and distributed.

But how can they possibly have different information on their website than what somebody send out in an email? Do these people ever communicate with others in their own company? I've never seen anything so totally screwed up in my life. But then, I've only lived in Thailand for 17 months!!

I'll be ready to watch games on the internet, and check in on the TrueV channels at game time. But it's clear that we can't believe anything they say, whether in their magazine, on their website, or in "personal" emails they send to inquiring customers. This is a totally incompetent company.

Gentlemen, The Cowboys-Rams game is ON LIVE NOW on TRUE Sport 2

Apart from the trails and tribulations we all have in accidentally discovering games being shown, how about them Cowboys? I can't wait for their big game against New England in the middle of this month. While the actual game is not important (Dallas beat Indianapolis last year), the fact is that it will be a great game to watch. Hopefully, True agrees.

The Panthers have no heart. Lovely speech by Kris Jenkins, wasn't it? So if your hometown isn't doing as well as you'd like, well, maybe you should hope they play against the Panthers. In a reversal of the old playground taunt, "Your hometown team can beat my hometown team." Yes they can. Well, unless you're from San Diego...

I understand that Isaac Bruce also had some words for the Rams before they played the Cowboys and went so far as to guarantee that the Rams would beat the Cowboys. The Cowboys just laughed. After all, Bulger was playing with two broken ribs and could hardly throw a pass and his offensive line has been decimated by injuries. Worse, they suffered additional crippling injuries during the Cowboy game. This year, the Rams are the doormat of the NFL. Their conditioning coach should be fired.

I hope you all got to see my Patriots totally dominate the Bengals in their house. We'll complete the "Ohio sweep" next week, back home in Gillette Stadium, by beating the Browns, and our old friend, former Pats DC, now Browns HC, Romeo Crennel. Glad to see Romeo, a really nice guy, having some success. But I'm afraid there'll be a one week interruption of that success next week.

Then, it will be on to the 3rd of our early season "toughest test yet" games, as the team travels to Dallas to take on the Cowboys, who also figure to be undefeated going into that game. Lot's of people expected the Chargers to take advantage of the "Spygate" crap, and take out the Pats early. Didn't happen. Some, albeit fewer, thought the Bengals powerful passing game would be enough to at least take the Pats into a high scoring shootout. Didn't happen. A few will be thinking that the surprisingly hot Browns will catch the Pats napping before the big "Battle of the Unbeatens" with the Cowboys. Won't happen.

I don't imagine there will be many of you, other than Patriots and Cowboys fans, who'll be watching this one "live". It's the second Sunday afternoon game, which means that it will start at 3:15 AM here. Too bad. It's one that I think all NFL fans would like to see "live". I will definitely be watching!

I don't know if anyone is interested in college football, but you can get next Sat. evening's (Sunday morning Bkk time) game between #1 LSU and # 9 Florida on radio. Just go to Yahoo's NCAA football section and scroll down on the column on the right hand side and you will see the radio icon. The game is listed to start at 8PM Eastern Std. time

According to the website schedule for TrueVisions "Sports World", they will be broadcasting "live" NFL:

Seattle @ Pittsburgh 12:00 AM on TS4 (Personally, I'll be watching my Patriots on the internet at that time.)

San Diego @ Denver 3:15 AM on TS4 (I'll probably opt for internet viewing of the Tampa Bay @ Indianapolis game. More important for a Pats fan.)

So, the good news is that, just like last week, they ARE showing the U.S. Sunday afternoon games "live", although they are not in the magazine schedule.

They do not list a "live" broadcast of either the Sunday Night Football, or Monday Night Football games. (Those would, of course, be Monday and Tuesday mornings here.) Guess they're still "negotiating" for those night games. :-)

Next Monday, their schedule shows 2 games again on TS4:

Cincinnati @ Kansas City at 12:00 AM

New England @ Dallas at 3:15 AM (Likely, they'll both be unbeaten for this game. It's a DON'T MISS for any NFL fan!)

And on Monday, Oct 22, they list these for TS4:

Tennessee @ Houston at 12:00 AM

Chicago @ Philadelphia at 3:15 AM

To complete October, on Oct 20, once again on TS4, it's:

Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati at 1:00 AM

Washington @ New England at 4:15 AM (Patriots again! It's almost as if I made this schedule!) :-)

Hopefully, all of this WILL happen; and we'll get an accurate, printed schedule in the November magazine.

As long as I'm at the website, here's the rest of what they show there for "live" NFL games (all shown on TS4):

(Note: If their game schedule is right, their TIMES are wrong. The USA goes to back to Standard Time, from Daylight Savings Time, on Nov 4. They "Fall back" 1 hour. This will put their Eastern Time 12 hours behind us, rather than the current 11. So the games that start at midnight now, will be starting at 1:00 AM Monday morning here; and the current 3:15 AM starts will move to 4:15 AM. Maybe I should send a note to True Visions to make sure they catch that, and don't think the games aren't on, and switch to other programming!)

Nov 5

00:00 Carolina @ Tennessee

03:15 New England @ Indianapolis (Game of the Year in the AFC!)

Nov 12

00:00 Cincinnati @ Baltimore

03:15 Dallas @ NY Giants

Nov 19

00:00 Washington @ Dallas

03:15 NY Giants @ Detroit

Nov 26

00:00 Denver @ Chicago

03:15 Baltimore @ San Diego

That's as far as they go out now. Basically, they're showing that they are returning to showing 2 games "live" every Monday morning.

I'm sensing a pattern of them also showing a non-live game on TSP4 at 9am every Sunday. Today it was the Colts stomping the Broncos, which I'd read about already. However, I did get to see Cutler's parents arguing when he threw the touchdown. Dad was saying many words, and Mom turned to him and told him, "Just shut up." I can lip-read in small doses.

MSNBC seems to have figured out that some good old NFL from NBC (not live) would be welcome here, but I haven't done enough random surfing to determine their pattern yet, since they're not listing anything in the printed guide about it.

I did follow up with a note to True Visions [[email protected]] on the upcoming clock change in the USA. (Copy below) I also tried to continue to reinforce appreciation for their efforts. As I did before, I will again suggest that each of you take a few minutes to send a brief note of appreciation. Hey, it couldn't hurt, right? The more we "Wai" in their direction, the better the chance that they'll continue to try to make us happy. Here's what I had to say:

Gentlemen:

I am an American living here in Thailand now. I have written to you before about my love for American Football (The NFL). I have been very pleased to see that you are showing 2 games each week, beginning at 00:00 each Monday morning.

I just reviewed the upcoming schedule shown on your website. It shows that you will continue to show these 2 "live" games every week on True Sport 4. I am very happy and grateful for that.

However, I want to advise you of a couple of errors shown on the time of games, as currently on your schedule.

First, you list the games broadcast on Monday, Oct 20, as starting at 01:00 and 04:15. This is not correct. These games will start at 00:00 and 03:15, as will all of the other games in October.

In November, however, the United States changes it's clocks to what is called "Standard Time" from the current "Daylight Savings Time". When the USA goes to back to Standard Time, from Daylight Savings Time, on Nov 4. They back up their clocks by 1 hour. This will put their Eastern Time 12 hours behind Thailand, rather than the current 11 hours. So the games that start at midnight now, will be starting at 1:00 AM Monday morning here; and the current 3:15 AM starts will move to 4:15 AM. Again, this change occurs at 2:00 AM on Sunday, Nov 4, USA Eastern Time.

So, beginning with the games you will broadcast on Monday morning, Nov 5, all games will start at 01:00 AM and 04:15 AM here in Thailand. Prior to that, the 00:00 and 03:15 starts are correct for all games in October.

I hope this helps you to continue broadcasting all scheduled games in their entirety. If you need any further clarification about this, or have any additional questions, please call me, or send me an email. I will be happy to help in any way that I can.

May I also ask the status of your efforts to negotiate a contract for once again broadcasting the games that are played on Sunday nights and Monday nights in the USA? These are the games that used be shown on ESPN Star; but were dropped by that network. It is my understanding that you are trying to work out a way to resume broadcasting these games "live"; and once again give us 4 "live" NFL games per week, as you did last year.

Thank you for your continued efforts to bring this great sport to the many dedicated fans of American Football here in Thailand.

George Richman
