Importing Sport Camera From Usa

Featured Replies

Hi All

Looking to import a special sports digital camera from the USA, does anyone out there have any experience of this?

My main concern is when it arrives in Thailand, what is the situation regarding taxes, duty etc.. does it come under the luxury goods class?

Thanks in advance

Mac

Can you have someone hand carry it for you?

Much simpler that way.

Don't have this option unfortunately, will be ordering online and having it shipped here.

WCO - Thailand's Duty Rates Notif12(01)_eng-1.pdfSomeone attached this file to another thread quite recently. It lists duty rates as at December 2006 but I have no idea as to whether they have changed since that time. It has a search facility which is essential as it runs to over 200 pages. There will also probably be the local tax of 7.5% to be paid on receipt based on the declared value.

there will definitely be taxes on it.Not sure if ya can get around it.

According to the customs hotline you will be charged 3% duty and 7% VAT against the value written on the front of the package by the person sending it. You will be charged this at the post office where you collect it from.

Happy importing!!

7% sales tax.. Maybe a 30% luxury goods tax.. They seem to apply that one randomly on stuff..
