I know Thai who needs to see a doctor that specialises in depression, which hospitals in Surat Thani have these docs available? Is the treatment free for Thai's? Has anyone any experience with an issuee like this and docs in Surat? I dont want this person handed drugs that might make the situation worse, and I dont want the person committed for the sake of it unless its really necessary.

The only psychiatric hospital that I know of in Surat is Suan Saranom on the road to Phun Phin but I don't know if they do outpatient, your friend could try Surat Thani Hospital (a govt hospital) and see what they say
