VIENNA, AUSTRIA (BNO NEWS) -- China on Thursday urged countries and international organizations to promote additional diplomatic efforts in order to solve the Iranian nuclear issue, the state-run Xinhua news agency.

"The Iranian nuclear issue is complicated and sensitive, therefore dialogues and negotiation is the only right way to solve the issue," said Hu Xiaodi, China's permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations.

Hu also remarked the importance of the upcoming meeting between Iran and the G5+1, the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany, that is scheduled to take place next week in Geneva.

The Chinese official considers the forthcoming talks as a new opportunity to promote the process of a diplomatic solution. Hu also said that Iran has the right of peaceful use of nuclear energy and at the same time carried corresponding international obligations as party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

"We expect Iran to fully implement relevant resolutions of the Board and the Security Council and strengthen cooperation with the agency, so as to foster the confidence of the international community in the peaceful nature of its nuclear program," Hu added.

Speaking in a board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Hu urged the agency to play a constructive role in implementing safeguards in Iran and promoting a proper solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
