CUERNAVACA, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- The Mexican Army on Friday announced the arrest of 14-year-old Edgar Jimenez, aka "El Ponchis," alleged member of the South Pacific cartel and suspected of beheading rivals.

Jimenez was caught as he intended to board a plane at an airport in Cuernavaca, just south of Mexico City, en route to Tijuana. The teen was going to try to see his mother in San Diego.

He was detained alongside two of his sisters, one of them, Elizabeth, 19, who is also believed to be part of the South Pacific cartel.

The minor hitman admitted that he was responsible for beheading at least four individuals that were later hanged from a bridge in Cuernavaca, Morelos, about two months ago. Soldiers handed Jimenez to local authorities to be prosecuted in a special process for minors.

The 14-year-old, when questioned about his activities, he claimed that he was forced into the organization under death threats.

The boy declared that the leader of the cell, Julio Jesús Padilla Hernández, aka "El Negro," drugged him with marijuana and then ordered him to mutilate and/or behead rival cartel members. He also said to be repented of entering the cartel and that he received $2,500 for each head cut off.

Jimenez was inducted in the South Pacific cartel approximately two years ago, when he was just 12. Despite claiming that he did not know what he was doing, Jimenez posted photographs on the Internet, posing with assault weapons, narcotics and beheading people.

The South Pacific cartel is led by Padilla Hernández, and is a cell under orders of the Beltran Leyva cartel. Since the death of Arturo Beltran Leyva in 2009, his brother Hector took control of the criminal organization.

The South Pacific cartel allied with "Los Zetas" cartel in order to fight for the control of Morelos state with "La Familia Michoacana" cartel. So far, the cartels' battle have caused the death of at least 325 people.

Poor boy. Not his fault etc. etc.

Maybe now people will understand why tough measures were taken when Thailand had its drug war. It was to prevent this type of situation.
