Sorry Icey, but Evanwhatever sucks. I have listened to too much of her and as far as I can tell it's way too contrived, way too over the top melodrama, way to pop to be taken seriously. But that's just how I feel. What else do have to suggest?

I wasn't making suggestions to what to listen to, just what IMO I thought was depressing. I can think of quite a few songs from various artists but I have no idea what music genre you like.

I jugde the music by it's maker not what people think it sounds like. So, fire away.

Tea for One - Led Zep , brilliant Electric Blues by the English Maestro's of White Mans Blues.

Tea For One

How come twenty four hours

Baby sometimes seem to slip into days?

Oh twenty-four hours

Baby sometimes seem to slip into days

When a minute seems like a lifetime

Ooh baby when I feel this way

Sittin, lookin at the clock

Oh time moves so slow

I've been watchin for the hands to move

Until I just can't look no more

How come twenty four hours

Baby sometimes seems to slip into days

A minute seems like a lifetime

Baby when I feel this way

To sing a song for you

I recall you used to say

"Oh baby this one's for we two"

Which in the end is you anyway

How come twenty four hours

Baby sometimes slip into days?

A minute seems like a lifetime

Oh baby when I feel this way

There was a time that I stood tall

In the eyes of other men

But by my own choice I left you woman

And now I can't get back again

How come twenty-four hours

Sometimes slip into days?

Well well well

A minute seems like a lifetime

Baby when I feel this way

A minute seems like a lifetime

Oh baby

When I feel this way...I feel this way

Accompanied by the best blues guitar solo ever played (IMO).

The thing about blues is , when you really get it , it will lift you out of the dumps and make you feel better.

Has anyone listened to the album 'Berlin' by Lou Reed? It's from the 70s and is the story of boy meets girl, they marry, have a child who dies, then the girl kills herself, then the narrator misses her etc. Dear God, it's the most depressing thing I've ever heard.

Leonard Cohen and Morrissey would be proud to write something so mind-numbingly downbeat.

Chonabot-That's a good one man, great song.

Sadman-Lou Reed is one of my faves. His Perfect Day song is truely depressing but a great work art.

I think I need to listen to more Morrissey. I can't recall any songs of his , but people always say he is really good.

There's a song by Lou Reed in the mid-Seventies, was it on the 'Berlin' album?, where he sings:'Somebody else would have broken both her arms' and 'It's so cold in Alaska'- suicide material, thank god the Thais never conceive of composing such nonsense.

"I'm not in love" by 10cc.

its a beautiful tune , the arrangement and production are first rate and that tends to distract from the lyrics which are evocative and sad and will bring floods of tears to the recently jilted.
